The British media hate the national football team

The British press has no values, scruples or concern for anything other than circulation figures and keeping in power those that can continue to feed the coffers of the Barons who own them. They would never put the needs or aspirations of the England team before a juicy story. I seen a discussion with Luke Shaw today about the press ‘leaking’ the team ahead of the formal announcement and giving the opposition an advantage in their preparations. Not helpful but the scoop is far more important than the needs of the team. Saying that some folk on here like to leak the Boro starting eleven in the same way

But that’s got 2 sides to it though as the media can only leak it if they know it

so the real question is who inside the inner circle is telling them it snd what are they getting

That’s real issue there.

Yes I don’t understand leaking the boro side either esp a tactical change etc.

It's the timing of the leak and it's the coordinated ( which it is) running of the story a day before a huge game which could go either way that indicates the press have an agenda. All the posters thinking this is what newspapers do need to ask themselves why now? And why have a series of tabloids gone with it as headlines? They would have known about the bust up last week, these things can't stay hidden, but they all decided to go together with it today, why?
I have my opinions but because it veers into political territory I can't be bothered on the eve of this game. UTFB and UTE.

It's not though is it. There's absolutely no fabric to the story. Its as usual "a source close to the camp exclusively told us..."

It utter nonsense and you'd hope that the majority of people see through it.
Well if there is no truth in the story Southgate will set the record straight, I am sure. Until he does I am not sure what there is to see through!

If the press have solid information on this why shouldn't it be reported. Saves them making something up.
If it disrupts the team then why. They already know why he was sent home.

Because as soon as the information breaks the first one will have it in their media and then it is what people want to read so the others all have to include it or their competitors win. It's not a conspiracy, just competition.

I don't know who Ben White is and I haven't heard any story.
Not sure why you thought that was worth sharing. Unless it is another one of those attempts to look ever so superior by not knowing who someone is. Usually reserved for modern pop stars or reality TV stars.

It would have been rumoured last week, if not known. To happen on the eve of a big game goes with what's happened in most of the previous tournaments, there is always a 'breaking story' which the bulk of the press run on the eve of an important game, Yes partly what you said but there will be several papers who would have known exactly the details and these stories could happen anytime but they don't.

Why leak that story about Ben White? It serves absolutely nobody in what will be a huge game.
the biggest influence in the british press right now is the culture war, it's clear what side of the divide the british team sit and that explains why the largely right wing press hate them.

Exactly. People see a conspiracy were there isnt one.

Let's just ignore the timing it's pure coincidence, they only discover a leak two days before and decide to run it, as usual. Who would have guessed? Probably only poor old conspiracy thinkers😉
