Boro are set to take 9,500 fans to Old Trafford in the FA Cup – and one Riverside regular is hoping to match the travelling army pound for pound. Claire Streeter along with two of her friends, Alice Hutchinson and Abbey Lyle, are planning on walking the 106 miles from the Riverside to Old Trafford to raise money for MFC Foundation to create a Dementia Hub at the Riverside Stadium.

Claire and the team intend to set off on the walk after Boro’s home game against Coventry on Saturday 29 January, and will arrive in Manchester the following Friday ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie.

We are asking all Boro fans to support Claire's team by donating just £1 to help her reach the target of £10,000 to donate to MFC Foundation allowing them to continue their work with people living with Dementia. Their aim is to create a Dementia Hub at the heart of the community (The Riverside Stadium) providing multi stimulation appropriate for people living with Dementia (in particular mid and late stages).

If we could get every Boro fan to donate just £1 we could smash that target and help the many people of Middlesbrough who are currently living with Dementia.

The very best of this Board in this post. (y)

I love the idea that if all the near 10 000 fans travelling by transport to Old Trafford donated a pound then the Big Boro Walk would hit their jackpot. Just £1 each needed for a fantastic facility that would make such a massive difference.

Brilliant Rob.

I don't know the logistics of these things but when buying a ticket an extra tick box to also donate a sum of your choice to charity would be a good idea.

Happens on many other sites and makes it very easy as a separate transaction is not required.

Great idea. But I wonder if it would be allowed as it is the Foundation not MFC - for tax and charity commission reasons they have to be seen to be very separate bodies. But what a great idea that is. Boro do have chosen charities for every game. Imagine if they could put a box for that charity next to the ticket purchase box. What an idea. I will mention this now to Yvonne.

They were collecting away at Blackburn.
Amazingly half of the total has now been raised before the walk starts this weekend.
Look out for them on Saturday.
