The BIG 6 watch

So 3 of them blew draws from winning positions, one beat another 1-0 in one of the duller games of the weekend and one won to leap to 14th.

Wow Parry, these are clearly superb clubs worthy of controlling our game.

Despite your efforts to suggest they don’t deserve their titular grouping the sad fact is they will be all in the top 6 come December. Everton may break in but they were once one of the big 6 Anyway so hardly new money.

I strongly doubt that. Arsenal finished 8th last season. This season Ole's wheels have almost come off.

Everton "Breaking In" isn't stratospheric but that's not the point. The point is that Rick Parry was ready to hand over full voting power to Liv, Man C, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs indefinitely - regardless of whether one of these clubs ended up mid table (as Arsenal did last season).

Colin is that really the case? The deal Parry was trumpeting, to hand over voting power to the clubs you listed?
It was. To be fair to the others it was only Liv and Man U who proposed it - but they stayed silent.

I'll certainly be cheering on every team against the Big 6 this season - particularly Liv and Man U.

Well I strongly doubt your doubt. From the two teams that kept Arsenal out Leicester are nowhere near as strong as last season and Sheff United are a one season wonder from the looks of their current form and are favourites to finish in the bottom 3. Oh and Arsenal look better.

You think United will finish top 6? They have looked awful.

1 narrow win over strugglers
Drab 0-0 borefest between 2 big 6 teams
1-1 with West Ham
Home loss

The BIG 6 really justifying the Parry plan.

Its been a remarkably bad start by the big clubs and Tottenham. We might see another Leicester season. All very good for the game. The TV money coming in gives us a reasonably competitive league, certainly by modern standards.

The problem with taking snapshots of time as to whether a team is a top 6 club is that there has always been flux. I have been in the earth for 50 years (admittedly a long time for a lot of people) and in that time only 2 of the so called big 6 have always been in the top division, indeed you only need to go back 20 years and Man City were scrapping their way out of the 3rd tier courtesy of injury time goals and a penalty shoot out at Wembley! (Jamie Pollock getting voted man of the Millenium in 1 of those daft polls) Only Arsenal have been around as a top flight club longer than my father has been going to Boro matches - and they bought, rather than earned their way into the top division,

I think this season is going to be very weird and may have a very interesting/entertaining outcome. I don’t think it will be the usual top 6. But despite that, the media will still focus on them and the fans of their clubs will still feel entitled to more than they deserve, because of the media portrayal.

To be fair if United amd City win their games in hand they go level with Chelsea and above Southampton and would be top 6
