The best ever?

46 points from 20 games - phenomenal.

It has got me thinking, have Boro ever won more points from 20 games in our history? I've been going since 1986 and I don't remember a run like this. Perhaps we did something similar in 86/87 or with Robbo in 94/95. Going further back, Big Jack's team must have put some big runs of results together... but as good as this?

Amazing!

With the form we're in and the football we're playing we deserve to go up. Carrick has been nothing short of outstanding. Massive credit to all the players too 👏 and of course Gibson for getting this appointment spot on.

Here is the record for Boro 73/74 from the beginning of the season to the 19th of Jan 74
It would have been 57 points with present rules
At the end of the season they would have had 92 pts after 42 games so would probably beaten 100 in 46 games
I'm a bit biased but probably best season ever but this is certainly running it close

And, in that season
Luton away was the big one………….

We’ve never seen a turnaround in our form
Like this before no.

As it’s not just the points gained it the low bar we were at when he arrived.

I remember I posted after the Preston defeat that I was happy to lose but fight back as carrick now knows what we are as a side.

On reply said oh it’s not as though we are going to win every game from now till the end the season as our form ring change just because of carrick and don’t be do stupid etc

I remember after the draw at home to Bristol City, although he would have been frustrated that we didn't win the game, he said he was pleased that the team kept playing the way he'd asked them to play throughout the game and stuck to the plan.

He said if we continue to believe in the plan and what we're trying to do then the results will come and he was right.

It's having that clear identity which has been so important to our success so far.

Carrick learned primarily from 3 managers

Fergie
Mourenho
Van gaal.

They all share one thing in common self belief in what they are doing and belief in their ability.
