The Ben Doak appreciation thread

Could we please go and find someone else like him for the left side then we’ll really fire.

I just don't think modern day Championship defenders are used to coming up against someone like him. So many young players are coached to almost be predictable in that their first aim is retention of the ball, play the percentages whereas Doak is just going to try and get the full back off balance and try to make something happen every time he gets the ball. As a full back it is a nightmare to be put under such constant pressure. I thought in the first 5 today Luton tried to double up on him but he figured it out, as he does almost every week. Not sure if it will be at Liverpool but he is going to have an excellent career.
 
Love watching him. His successful dribbles % must be off the scale. His value will be increasing every game atm.

If he continues as he has done and we go up we could potentially loan him again next season.
 
He's a breath of fresh air. Just a throwback old school type winger. They are almost a thing of the past.

You still can't beat a flying winger turning a fullback inside out. That's from Stuart Ripley to Downing in his prime.

I wish we'd secured a Hamilton type deal for him.

He will go into great things. Although we must be careful with him. He's only 18 and will need managing. He will also have dips in form.

I doubt he will stay this type of player forever. I'm sure Liverpool will coach new things into him. He's just young and raw. So we should definitely enjoy watching him.
 
He is electric, his pace from a standing start leaves them for dead and he is getting better all the time at picking players out in the box.

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy him in a Boro shirt this season.

For younger fans who only saw Downing during his 2nd spell, where he was a very different player, it is hard to explain how electric he was when he first got into the team after the loan to Sunderland.

Doak is too good for the championship. At 18 that’s pretty amazing.
 
He's very good. Obviously still stuff to learn, some of his decision making will get better over time. He's great to watch

Will he fit in as a regular in a top Prem team? Who knows.
But at least we can enjoy him while he's here
 
Getting better and better as well rather than being found out. He seems to have cut out the checking in on his left and trying to score wordlies which has improved his final ball.

Got to agree. He's getting better each time.

Yesterday was his best overall performance for me, he was fantastic.
 
I really like his decision making. For such a young player he knows when it’s not on and lays it off. Most people his age with his ability would try and do it all every time.
