The atmosphere today

Agree with the OP. I said to my son after about 5 minutes there was the gentle buzz of conversation - a bit like the first morning of a Lord's Test match.

Also agree with @gizasqueezemister, which comes first chicken or egg? Do players respond to positive, vibrant atmosphere, or do the crowd react to positive, vibrant play? It is possibly both and yesterday was neither.

The performance on the pitch gave little to get excited about. The plodding introverted performance permeated throughout the stadium.

As simple as that imo.

Thought the same, there seems to be a certain type of expectance that we will steamroll teams and when we don’t, the crowd almost turns.

It also didn’t take long for fans to get annoyed by the keeper bringing the ball well out into our half and waiting for Millwall players to move.

The corner thing at the end was disappointing. I don’t like seeing players surrender to demanding fans really, if they’ve been told to do something by the coaching staff then do it until they say otherwise, not some angry fans.

Always the same when its a full house. Not sure why but always an anti climax even on the pitch. Do we ever win when its a sell out.

Should just not sell to part timers 😝
It wasnt a full house, around 3k empty seats?

The corner thing at the end was embarrassing on the part of our fans, they almost enjoy seeing the team and manager undermined.

Our crowd can be superb at times but can also reach the lowest of the low.

At a point when we could still have forced a late equaliser Millwall were given just the boost they needed to get them over the line.

The long corners came to absolutely nothing, as usual, we don’t have those type of set piece specialist players.
