The atmosphere today

Or lack of it. Compared to last seasons first game it was so flat. Even before kick off it was weirdly quiet. Was it the weather? The lack of first team signings? Was actually disappointed with it. Just didn’t have that electric feel that the first game usually has

I think it was a combination of the weather and fans concerns that we have lost such key players since last season. Trepidation/lack of belief of the fans can also effect the players on the pitch. The old adage 'You could cut the atmosphere with a knife' being an example.

It was flat. The obvious lack of scoring chances and opportunities fed back to the stands and then back from the stands to the players. Like nailing custard to a tree, sometimes trying and trying knowing there will be no end product.

I think most people knew what was coming…..
That perennial debate, do the fans or players need to lead atmosphere generation. There was moments when the players showed spirit, the crowd reacted immediately. In agreement with previous comments. It was tough going for the fans today. Not their fault.
I agree I wasn’t blaming or saying it’s the fans faults. Just even before a ball was kicked it was just a bit off today

We could still be playing now and might only have bagged a goal because the Millwall keeper was desperate for a wee and went to the toilet.

It's hard to get excited when all the action is between the boxes and it's a lovely day in March.

I think people (certainly in the south stand) are just getting sick of the songs RF sing. They have been pushing them for ages and are'nt taking off beyond that group.

We desperately need a few new songs to sing and bring back 'Oh Carrick said'.

I was worried about the negativity that appears to be felt by a lot of fans feeding into the players on the pitch that didn’t really happen but the atmosphere was very subdued today.

The crowd just like the team under performed today.

T.Smith, howson, archer, ramsey, Giles, chuba and Steffen
and we could’ve managed with these and not Ramsey and Steffen perhaps but we got the result we deserved given the circumstances and more than half a team different (not better) than the last term.

Carrick said he is happy with the squad. What effect does that have on the fans?

There was bound to be a hangover from losing in the play offs, it will take a few games in my opinion to get last seasons failure (ultimately) out of the system.

Very flat atmosphere, and the poor performance didn't help.

But barring the Coventry play-off match, I can't remember the last time we actually had a good atmosphere.
Feels like you'd have to go back to the season before last.

Half the crowd never got in 10-15 minutes after the start of the game.
