Teesside Bands 1975 - today

I'm doing a bit of research about bands and musicians from Teesside from 1975 - the current day. Ideally, I want to identify 'influential' bands that has a real 'vibe' about them... 'they could've made it but...'. I don't want the Chris Reas, Maximo Parks ones - more like, in my head bands like White Negroes, The Lovehearts, The Guests, Hangmen, Carl Green and the Scene etc. AND ideally, if there is a story about them - perhaps happy - but also tragedies... I'm contacting a few people - I know Kingsley Chapman did a musical mind map for example, but equally, I'm interested in other genres - blues, folk etc. And finally, IF they had any songs about Teesside please mention that! I hope it can be thread that people will enjoy from a reminiscence point of view, but it will also directly influence a 'show' I am producing in 2021... many thanks in advance.

Wasn't there a Teesside group call Last Chance who were plagued by bad luck, a few deaths etc?
I remember they did a gig at the Bedes in our 5th Year, the lead singer was electrocuted, he survived thankfully.

Rivers Invitation
Idiot Savant

the legendary but now sadly deceased Dlck Scallywag......................sometimes known as Scallywag Dlck

all interesting but different local bands/artists

Two bands I remember from the mid 70's were White Spirit and Avenue. Both Hartlepool based but spent a lot of time on the Teesside music scene.

Another Pool based band were JAK, a Cream tribute band, saw them many times around here.

Bass players from Avenue and JAK both passed away in the last year or two.

The Tyrrel Corporation. Big one hit wonder back in the early 90's. It was massive on the club scene and lyrics that describe Redcar and Teesside.

I think they were mid 80s?? Around the same time as I, (along with dozens of others!) did a gig with The Lovehearts - who had a brass section, string quartet, backing singers and singer Brocky in a dress. The other link is that one night they were supported by the ORIGINAL Wildcats of Kilkenny fronted by the genius Hugh McShane along with sadly no longer with us Andy Jones and one of the Redcar O'Sullivan brothers I think - all at The Dovecot. I remember ringing Hughie some years later to ask if I could 'have' the name for my band after falling out with Shane MacGowan. Mental days but good ones.

Also the era of The Flaming Mussolinis! I feel like I have loads of 80s ones - and post 2000.... But, whether its because I ended up playing in every Irish Bar in the UK and beyond, the 1990's are less familiar for me to remember the bands and acts.

Smac put on a lot of good gigs in the back room of the Sun over the years.
Jarvis Humby and the Magic b***ds were 2 of the best local bands I saw over the years.
Some very good musicians around at time, a few unfortunately no longer with us.

Remember seeing Avenue many times they were very good. Always opened with ELPs fanfare for a common man.
