Tees Barrage Parkrun officially no more

Originally started in 2012 and after a decade, organisers have explained that it will no longer go ahead.

It has been removed from the Events map on the Parkrun web site

Just the Stockton one in Australia now

Yes, really sad. It became my home parkrun in its final year and was the last place I ran a parkrun before lockdown. It was really dramatic landscape-wise along the Tees with the new bridges and the Barrage itself.
The multiple land owners ultimately seems to have been an undoing.
Will Stockton Council turn to Ropner Park (3 times round) as an alternative?

No. I don't think parkrun organisers ever got definitive replies from all four of the landowners.

yeah, became my local one as well, and as it turned out I did the last ever one. a shame.

But surely the route is still there for anyone who wants to run it. Or does it go through private land.

They've previously had to change the route because the Millennium bridge was a bit bouncy. I didn't think the alternative route was as good. Will be interesting to see if the Tees Barrage 10K gets the go ahead.

I wonder if there will be any organised mass participation events along those river banks in future.
