Team vs Preston

I know what I would like. A back to basics 4-3-3 and defend the middle of the pitch. Assuming McGree isn't fit enough to start. There's not a lot of width or pace so use what we have
Dieng
Ayling - RVDB - Clarke - Thomas
Hackney - Howson - O'Brien
Silvera (McGree) - Forss - Azaz

Dieng needs to come back in. Glover is terrible.

Fry is having a shocking season IMO and he just doesn't fit with Carrick's philosophy. We need players who are comfortable on the ball, playing out from the back. Rav is perfect, yet Fry is terrible at this. His feet are so slow and he's often like a deer caught in the headlights. So I'd bring McNair back in.

Have to drop Barlaser and put Hackney back in his best position, as a #8.

Bring back Howson.

Then the front 4 should pick themselves really, due to the lack of options we have available.
 
The thing with McGree is, he’s fit or he isn’t. If he’s carrying an injury of the sort we are told he is then he shouldn’t be coming on for 20-25mins. He should be resting it. Same with Coburn. You’re bringing on half-fit players to try and chase a game, it doesn’t make sense. It’s a bit of a mess at the moment tbh. I would just like to see them left out until they’re fit enough to contribute properly, or treated as first-team players and, as two players we really do need at the moment included in the starting eleven. There’s way too much faff.
 
We have looked solid when playing 3 at back so lets try that again.
Season probably over so lets play our players rather than other clubs players.
Team assuming Greenwood is signing as deal already agreed, but if not Azaz in for him and Forss up top.

I would like to see him try a flatter back 4 and stop the full backs bombing on as much. Even if it gives us a bit less forward, we need to stop leaking so many goals. It's been 7 matches since our last clean sheet. We know we aren't as potent up front and we not really giving ourselves a chance when we are conceding virtually every match. Last year we just outscored our opponents. We don't have that fire power this season.
 
I'd bring McNair back as left sided centre back, we looked more solid in defence with him there til he got injured, Dijksteel back too RB and start Thomas LB
 
Need to keep it tight and be more solid. Switch in formation for me.
