Team for Preston

I would drop Fry for McNair, He struggles in possession and McNair is better. Otherwise I like the team. Just need Coburn or Lath back to take Greenwood. Jones still a big miss when you look at the stats

Although Barlaser was poor against Bristol City, he played very well against Preston last time and I think Carrick might well persevere with him. Otherwise I think as Thomas can't play Saturday he should definitely come in for Engel, much as I like him.

Whether Einstein said it or not, it makes sense!
Not sure who said it first but the quote was coined and popularised by Narcotics Anonymous in the 80s, and was actually:
'making the same mistakes over and over again',
not;
'doing the same thing over and over again'.

Which is why in sport, they do same thing repeatedly to try and get a different (better) result.
'Practice makes perfect'

E.G.
The development of muscle memory by darts players repeating the same action over and over.

Seve Ballesteros perfecting a particular shot by playing it thousands of times in the field behind his house.

Carrick coaching his team over and over to play out from the back. Until it becomes natural and they stop making the same mistakes over and over again (hopefully 🥴).

And stuff like that.

I'd keep Engel in personally, only for the reason it's Leicester on Saturday.
Dropping him, then him knowing he is ONLY starting on Saturday ( against the best team in the League) will put his head through the floor.

After that, we really should be having a proper look at Thomas.

As long as it's HH in CM and Azaz in at 10, I can pretty much accept anything else.

If Mcgree's foot flares up then who knows.

Ahhh.. I prefer that and even more applicable to playing Hackney out of position.

You live and learn (y)

It was after the Chelsea home game when Carrick said that he had played Hackney in an advanced role a few times and he always seemed to score.
And then with a wry grin, "maybe I've been playing him in the wrong position, I'll have to look at that".

I thought he was joking, but apparently not. Hopefully that experiment is now finished.

It's also surely about playing players in their correct positions. Whether the 11 was right or not on Saturday if he'd played Hackney in midfield and Azaz centrally I think there'd have been a lot less chance of us being 2 down after 17 minutes
Yes defiantly but giving the ball away 7000 times a game doesn't help us.

I can’t watch tonight as I’ll be taking the missus out, but I fancy us tbh. 1 - 0 the Boro.

Dan Barlaser 35 yard screamer.

I'm pretty sure Hackney could play the advanced role if there was a Hackney playing the Hackney role further back.

Dolly the sheep was cloned 30 years ago. We need more mad scientists.
