Similar team I posted on Saturday except Dieng in for Glover and Howson in for O'Brien.

If he plays Hackney out of position again I will seriously start to question Carrick's sanity.

Thomas for Engel is a no brainer for me.

Barlaser and O'Brien both poor on Saturday. Missed Howson.

Unsure on fitness of Dijk but I don't really have any strong feeling to who should play at RB between Ayling and Dijk. I think Ayling has been fairly poor so far.

Front 4 can line up in various ways. The only thing I would say is that Azaz plays centrally as he looks a bit lost on the left.

He can’t do it again, surely? If he makes the same mistake again it’s a real concern.
I’m confident he won’t though. Sort of..

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

He's done it 3 times in a row.... But changing it after 30 mins last week felt like admission that he had made a big mistake. If he started like that tonight, it would be madness.

Agree completely, and I'd go with exactly that.

Possibly Barlaser in for Howson to give Diego something to write about after the match .......? 😉

I hope not, he even said in the press conference his best position was CM. Surly, we have enough back from injury/internationals to stop playing people out of position. The team in the OP is what I would go with (but I think engel will be in)
 
Strongest team possible should be put out with them playing in their best positions.Sounds so obvious and almost a cliche to say it, but it hasn't been the case for a few weeks , you could say injuries has created this situation but it feels like we could start putting out a strong team again, or on Saturday against BC we should have but it never happened.
Personally I would like to see Thomas given a run out from the start, I like Engel but it seems for him he's on a steep learning curve and just like earlier in the season he might benefit from a time out to give him time away from the firing line.
A big UTB lads for tonight, we need it!
 
I don't think we will see a load of changes, that's just not what Carrick does. So it'll be either Thomas for Engel, or Clarke for Fry, but not both as it'll 'disrupt' the defence too much.

Ayling
Fry
RVDB
Thomas

Howson
Hackney

Azaz

I’d be ok with that but would prefer Dieng to start.

Do you guys think Carrick will give Luke Thomas his first full 90 today?

I was reading your post match posts after your Bristol loss and many were commenting on your other LB's bad performance, his name is Engel I think. I also saw in the Sunderland game, Engel ran out of steam quite a while before Carrick actually decided to sub Thomas on.

I’d like to think so. Especially we are playing yourselves on Saturday so he can’t play there.
 
Team starting to look **** poor now.
Engel gotta be out, hackney played in proper position.
I know he won't change the way we play, but I can't take seeing the same mistakes over and over again.

Injuries/illnesses apart it surely has to be that team in those positions

It's also surely about playing players in their correct positions. Whether the 11 was right or not on Saturday if he'd played Hackney in midfield and Azaz centrally I think there'd have been a lot less chance of us being 2 down after 17 minutes
