I was shocked by how many changes there were on Saturday compared to our side last season, so thought I would look into historical teams at the beginning of the season compared to the team that started the first game of the following season .
On average - from Millwall vs Boro in 2018 to Boro vs Millwall in 2023 - there have been just 6 players the same from the last game of the season to the first game the next season. So only having 5 of the same players saturday vs the last playoff game against Coventry was not that extraordinary. It is on average nearly half the team that changes.
More encouragingly, there is a bigger difference between the first and last game of the same season; 4.8 of the same player on average
