Taxi For Heckingbottom

I think he'll do a better job than Heckingbottom, it's just whether his arrogance gets the better of him again.

Probably still be down and replaced in the summer though.

Wonder what the percentage is of managers getting promoted, getting the sack in their first season in the Premier league. Must be better for the longevity of your football management career to fail in the play offs.

The rather worrying thing is the fact that the three promoted teams - Luton , Burnley and Sheff are looking very likely to be relegated, and the three relegated teams, Leicester, Leeds and Southampton could all get promoted - Id say at least 2 of them will.

So we have last seasons 3 best teams back in the championship with more money, better squads and an even bigger advantage.

The gap between Prem and Championship is already huge, now the chance to actually get there will seemingly get even smaller.

It'll be much easier to be promoted ahead of those 3 coming down than the 3 that are likely to go up this season.

A trend that will continue in my opinion. Parachute payments will distort the financial ability of those coming down.

Whilst Sheff Utd will continue to be terrible and be relegated with an abysmal points total, at least they have given themselves a good chance of storming up the xG table. Exciting times for the fans. I still remember the xG trophy presentation here, beautiful memories.

Im not so sure - Burnley won the league at a canter, Sheff utd could struggle yes but Luton have bought a squad for next season

They spent very little whilst in the Premier League, largely on players from League One and the bottom of the Championship.

I'll be surprised if they suddenly decide to then improve the quality of their targets in a lower division.

They'll be competitive, but I'll eat my hat if they run away with anything.

I agree with the "out if his depth" comment, but I still think he's done a good job.

I think SU were 16th in the league when he was appointed, a decision widely reviled and protested by their fans as lacking ambition.

18 months later, gets them promotion despite having little to spend. I think that deserves some respect. I don't doubt the board feel they made the right call appointing him.

Did well getting them promoted but is clearly out of his depth in the premier league. Not that I can see anyone doing much with that squad, but worth changing it now to at least try something else.

I think thats what simon Jordan is hinting at now. Doesnt like wilder at all

I'd argue that they were massively underperforming when he came in, he probably overperformed (just) with them last season. They were easily a top 6 side imo, he managed to get them into the autos.

The fact he did so playing football last seen on these shores in the mid 80s means he's been massively found out in the EPL, where teams, you know, play football. :)

I agree, it looks like what will happen is 3 sides with mostly championship players are coming down and 3 sides with loads of prem players are going up.

Combined with us hopefully not losing about 5 players from our starting 11 next summer and we should be in a great position*

I haven't ruled out getting promoted this season though and I think we will finish in top 6.

*Providing we keep MC or in worst case we bring in a replacement with similar footballing and character principles.
