Tav

It’s Bamba’s fault. He should be positioned on the goal line, next to the other corner flag then he might get it.

Get caught far too much in possession, has done on a regular basis this season in dangerous area's

I thought Tav played really well.
Agreed, he had a very good game last night, the yards he put in down our left, tackles, blocks, all the stuff that often goes unnoticed. His corners were OK, they were a very big team so we were unlikely to get much joy with stuff in the air. One thing I think Wilder needs to work on is our set pieces which are rarely productive and (IMO) even more rarely innovative or imaginative.

But yeah, Tav had a good game last night.

Agreed and yet he was singled out time and time again by a number of posters who seem to want to take their frustration out on him. I’ve always said that despite some errors he still remains an important cog in our side and thankfully Wilder sees that as well.

I thought he did some stuff well, and some stuff not so well, and that’s been the case for a good few weeks, even months.

There was a spell late in the game when he lost possession and I was just about to shout ‘FFS Tav’ at the telly, when he chased back like a man possessed and regained possession brilliantly, and set us on our way and my FFS turned into ’Effing well done son!’.
His engine and work rate is important to our style of play but sometimes he just tries to beat one man too many or tries an over ambitious pass and loses possession, and he needs to work on that imo.

Personally I’m not a fan, although I do think there is something there, but let’s not knock him, he’s doing a job in a team that’s on a good run, so let’s get behind him.

Tav plays a role we have not had in so many years at Boro, and that is a CM that covers an incredible amount of ground and never seems to tire. I would love to see his distance covered stats, I could be wrong but he seems to run forever.
He doesn’t cover as much ground as people believe, doesn’t always track back as is also believed.Last night he lost the ball and recovered it ,which should be expected, especially when he lost it in a dangerous position by trying to be clever.Too often he’s watching the play from a few yards away ,the game is passing him by at the moment.
