Tav

Sorry Alzi but there's possibly a bug there in the system which makes it appear that both of those comments are yours . That was not intended, apologies.

It seems that there is a large contingent of boro fans that would rather see Payero in the side instead of Tav. While I am very excited about Payero, I just can't help but think Tav is far far better suited and effective in this system. I could be very wrong as we haven't actually seen Payero under Wilder but form what I have seen I don't think he has the engine or pressing defensive mindset that Tav has picked up pretty well. What does enfuirate me about Tav is he seems to complicate the game in the wrong places on the field still too often

Well ..I started this hare running. Just to say that I think Tav is talented, I'm just disappointed at his form this season and wonder if he's become too complacent. He is always in the team no matter how poorly he performs. Maybe he has become too complacent. If so it would do him good to be benched for a while.

I am very excited about Boro under Wilder. Last night we did a very Boro thing ie giving away a soft equaliser in time added. But then a very non Boro thing, scoring a winner...a Xmas miracle! This could turn into an amazing season 😃 UTB!

I think I’m watching a different game to some on here. Tavs work rate and closing down is impressive, he recycles the ball well, his passing is generally good. He gives us a great balance on the left side of the midfield three. Yes he can be frustrating but the lad can play. Can’t wait for him to add a few goals. Successive Managers-have him as an ever present of course!

This.

I wonder what game some people are watching be perfectly honest.

Watch the inside the match day highlights on YouTube of Wilders games in charge and see how many of our chances created Tav is involved in. You might be surprised that it's most of them. Granted any that finish with him he misses.

I think the move will be entirely in Tav’s court as I’m guessing Newcastle could match an asking price we put in as they are desperate to bring players in. I’d love him to stay, (I’ll get a lot of stick saying this here), but if I had the chance as a young player to join Newcastle which we have to admit will be an exciting long term project to any player alongside a huge wage increase, it will be hard to persuade him to stay.

Maybe, but timing has to come into it as well. At the minute I don't think they would tempt him considering where we are in the respective decisions. In the summer if we don't go up and they don't go down, then it's a different story.

It's just a stock rumour that they wheel out every transfer window.

There's no chance Newcastle will be trying to sign Marcus Tavernier in January when they're the richest club in the world and deep in a relegation battle.
