Sorry chap - just duplicated your post.
Well Wilder said a couple of days ago that Tav hadn't asked to move, so that's some very quick "forcing" by him to get it pushed through a day or two later.
Not signing a new contract when there's interest in you, and forcing a move are two completely different things
Anbd the club didn't tell Wilder? Seems a bit far fetchedWilder did say that, but I suppose at the same time, it's not Wilder that is running transfers.
He'd already said he leaves it to the recruitment team, Gibson, Scott and Bausor for incomings, it could be the same for outgoings.
Tavernier may never have spoken to Wilder about wanting to leave, but his agent could well have made his intent clear to the club.

Its a much better prospect for his career. Stay with us an play Championship football with no guarantees of us being anywhere near the top or play in the Prem week in week out. And if it all goes t*ts and assuming he has a solid enough season, he'll get another move. Its a no-brainer for me. I just cant understand the opinions of those who think he would have been better staying. Its crazy. If he had 3/4 years left and we had just signed a couple of strikers so we looked in a better position to get promoted this year, i think we could argue with Tav the time wasn't right, give us a year, etc but i think he probably feels like the time is right to go, and while i disagree with it i think he sees them as a better prospect for his career. He gets a year to prove himself and if they get relegated, he'll come down and be in a team probably favourites to go back up, or he'll hope his year there has done enough to earn him another move. Who knows. Money talks, the PL talks, his brother having loads of success in Scotland while he's done nowt talks etc.
I find it hard to believe that it would have been kept from Wilder. It would be ridiculous for them to operate like that (so as it's Boro, definitely possible then).Wilder did say that, but I suppose at the same time, it's not Wilder that is running transfers.

yes of course, happens all the time, but that's more just about a club accepting an offer. Not telling a manager a player wants to leave would be a whole other unlikely scenarioHappens all the time where players are sold from underneath managers.
Gazette putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with the answer they think suits? Not signing a new deal and forcing a move are not necessarily the same thing. Tav may have been happy to see out his contract?
