Supermarket Shopping - Still Mad?

I literally tried their website on the off chance after having no luck at the weekend, they were offering delivery slots both today and tomorrow, and so I just grabbed what I could before my first virtual meeting.

Let's see how many substitutes I get though....

Edit:- Just tired now and it looks OK, although not sure whether where you are in the country has anything to do with it ? (I'm in Hertfordshire)
Thanks

I went to Tesco on the Trunk Rd on Sunday and had problems what so ever other than one d*ckhead in his phone ignoring the signs and invading people’s space.

Plenty of bread, meat, eggs, etc. but struggled for tonic water.

No toilet rolls and if this continues we might need to revert back to have yesterday’s headlines on our backsides. 🤣

In general much more civilised.
Most have limits on how many can come into a store and how many products you can buy.
It won’t surprise you to know March was the busiest month ever in Food Retail.
The problem was most people buying a ‘bit more’ more often rather than massive over buying.

The view is because of Q’s to get in and limiting products it has levelled out. Still around 12% up on LY (the market was in decline previously)

was up early this morning & Coulby Tesco @ 06:40 no queues to get in though a small number of people inside. Some restrictions on movement that I couldn't quite understand the logic of.

Break, Milk, hand sanitiser (a few small pocket sized), no eggs when I was there, beans but no multi-packs, bog roll (lots, though only 1 pack per person) - all available & full shelves. There were some empty spaces though Tesco have said they are focusing, rightly, on essentials & cutting back on some items in favour of select group of higher selling items..

Basket handle cleaner on entry - if you wanted it, a nice touch - though no obvious cleaning of self service screens..

I’ve had to switch from tonic water to lemonade for my gin because of the only 3 of each item rule :)

Just to give you a countrywide perspective, plenty of stock on the shelves of the supermarkets in Edinburgh. I’m lucky to have Lidl, Aldi, Asda, Iceland and M and S food within 5 mins of my flat. No panic buying and folk are keeping their distance within the shop. (I only visit one of the shops on any visit).

i visited Aldi on Marton Road this morning and their organisation etc is top drawer.

Friendly "security guard" at the entrance advising where you should stand whilst waiting to go in, once in the 2 metre policy was pretty much respected, especially at the checkout.
The shelves are pretty full including bread, pasta, fruit & veg, toilet rolls etc.

The guard also cleaned the hand rail on the trolley when I took it back to the store.

Last week Sainsburys were nearly cleared out of wine (only £20+ bottles left) which rather took me by surprise, can I expect to be able to buy a few bottles on Thursday (my shopping day this week)?

2 bottles only - not sure what you will don for Friday?

The only thing I have struggled to get is chocolate brownie mix for my daughter to bake with so we’ve been doing it from scratch with reasonable results.

I needed some fennel seeds and cumin seeds, but the Sainsbury's spice shelves were empty. The joy of living in SE London I suppose. I'll improvise a rub for the pork belly I have to cook.

Just been to Tesco Billingham, queued five minutes to get in . Managed to get everything that I needed is okay not a problem at all the only thing was some aisles were blocked off at the end other than that a doddle
