I can remember going to the beach and all the fella’s would be in suits. In fact, I can remember a guy falling into Saltburn boating lake all suited and booted after his boat capsized.

I've got old cine footage of my dad and grandad with us kids on the beach at Saltburn on a Summer's day in the late 60s, and they were both fully suited with ties etc on - trousers rolled up, paddling in the sea.

Why is it? If people are comfortable not wearing a shirt, who are we to judge.
I’m camping in France and have sat the last three days without a shirt on. I wore one to go down to the village shops this morning and it was soaked by the time I took it off. We had only been gone an hour and the car has very good air conditioning.
It’s been 40+ for the last three days here in Landes. I will need a coat tomorrow, it is dropping to 26.

This always makes me smile and anyone who’s attempted to go into a public swimming pool in France will know swimming trunks are compulsory.
Being 60 years of age, pot belly and balding, I can tell you I cut a fine figure in mine.
The beauty of France though, people are a lot less judgmental and you see all kinds of shapes and sizes wearing what ever they want.

The beauty of France though, people are a lot less judgmental and you see all kinds of shapes and sizes wearing what ever they want.
And after a certain age, you don't really care what you look like.
