Now he's pushing ahead with PIP reforms that is threatening to take away cash benefits and replace it with "access to treatment".
Outside of the medical, there is almost a complete lack of jobs / training / education opportunities for people to see a route out of difficult circumstances, whilst they see the government looking after their friend, this drives depression and other related mental health issuesIf the UK does have a sick note culture, it’s almost certainly down to record waiting lists for NHS treatments, barely any metal health services, people not being able to afford to heat their homes or eat proper food, a failing GP system, impossible to see a dentist without paying private etc which are all a failure of the Tory government
Depressing that so many want to see those at the bottom punished instead of pushing the government to fix the above, which would certainly fix any sick note culture the country has
To be fair though, the majority of decision makers within the DWP probably think congenital means some kind of sexually transmitted infection.I know of DWP staff asking people who have congenital ailments how long they've been ill.
I worked with a Doctor who had a patient told by the DWP that she was "fit for work" and ineligible for Personal Independence Payments.I have much experience with the 'outsourced' people who apparrently are going to take over the writing of sick notes from my long dispiriting reviews after a serious brain injury years ago.
They are generally people who are in a position that they seem to have no clue about. The reviews I have had are just people going down a checklist of questions and ticking boxes. The problem is if anything is borderline they always choose thhe option that is less favourable to the claimant (in my experience)
The daftest example I had was at Darlington where I got from the car just outside the door to their office with support from 2 people but they said that as I made this journey I had no mobility issues. Once it went to appeal with a qualified doctor it was overturned immediately - but that takes 6 months to happen (probably even longer now).
There are obviously some people pulling a fast one but if you weedle all of them out then you are guarantee to have hit a large number of genuinely sick people. At the other end if you get all of the sick people sorted out properly then you will automatically include lots more non genuine people.
It is where you decided that your priorities lie, is it to look after genuinely disabled people or is it to get rid of all people pulling a fast one.
Over the last 20 years (my experience timeline) the pendulum has definitey swung towards stopping people and this causes a lot of unnueceary stress when you rely on the disability befefits.

How do you w@nk yourself stupid over getting employee of the month and do your work with only one arm?To be honest some doctors are very quick to sign you off from personal experience.
I broke my arm and obviously couldn’t drive to the office but was quite happy to work from home. I spoke to the consultant and asked for a fit note and was told I had to speak to the GP. I filled in all the forms and spoke to the GP telling him exactly what I needed and why before receiving a full sick note in the post a week later
After another two phone calls I was told he couldn’t do that (even though the government website and the NHS website says he could) at which point I agreed with my boss that I was going to just ignore the sick note and work from home regardless
Why would anyone care about folks trying to scam the system? I just don't get it.The thing is that the claimants who are taking the p*ss are far too streetwise for the numptys trying to catch them hence the reason the same nymptys will pick on genuine claimants who haven’t got a clue what’s going on just to tick their quotas.
Coke and rent boys as far as I can tell. Why would anyone care about folks trying to scam the system? I just don't get it.
There are bigger thieves by multiple degrees in government.
Who knows what motivated folks. We do know that the tory party have no idea what the people want.
