Fit notes and sick notes are the same thing now. Was this some time ago I'm guessing? To be honest some doctors are very quick to sign you off from personal experience.
I broke my arm and obviously couldn’t drive to the office but was quite happy to work from home. I spoke to the consultant and asked for a fit note and was told I had to speak to the GP. I filled in all the forms and spoke to the GP telling him exactly what I needed and why before receiving a full sick note in the post a week later
After another two phone calls I was told he couldn’t do that (even though the government website and the NHS website says he could) at which point I agreed with my boss that I was going to just ignore the sick note and work from home regardless![]()
I haven't even Pimlico watched this Plumbers but living in Spain can't imagine who they've brought in to comment. It's being debated on GMB now, some "businessman" who looks like a bad rod Stewart impersonator saying how sick notes are "bad for business" is about to argue with a qualified doctor, should be fun
Was September mate. my Mrs works in HR and even she said it was b***ks and the fit note should be issued... especially since I was asking for it (instead of a sick note)Fit notes and sick notes are the same thing now. Was this some time ago I'm guessing?
But yeah, I've worked in DWP and seen some of the medical certificates that come in. "Low mood" was a frequent diagnosis, which I always took as code for "I don't think this person is clinically depressed but it's not worth the chew me telling them that".
You're talking about such small numbers of claimants taking the **** though. I'd argue the country has far more pressing problems.
I also work in HR and I can tell you they're the same thing! Was September mate. my Mrs works in HR and even she said it was b***ks and the fit note should be issued... especially since I was asking for it (instead of a sick note)
as for the country having far more pressing problems... I agree, this is a headline grabber and nothing else
The Tories and Daily Mail (and Telegraph) are also on an agenda to demonize slackers working from home toowas quite happy to work from home
