When I was an apprentice spark at BSC there was a fault on the signals. I rode down with the Sparky I was working with, he put an aluminium ladder up to some switch gear ran up and dropped the front of the switch. I could see him looking in an he rested his chin on the front of the box. I heard him first , a muffled cry. When I looked up he was doing a little dance.
I kicked the ladders away and he dropped about 4 ft down. Jumped up holding his jaw . We used to travel around the site on a little Honda 90 , he staggered over to it, tried to kick start it and slipped. The kick-start shot up his shin ripping a decent cut. He yelled in agony and fell over. The bike fell on top of him and as he fell back over broke his ankle.
As the ambulance took him away he looked at me and said"i hope you learned from that" and burst into laughter.
Can't remember his full name but it was 1976 and he was called Thomas and was quite posh.
