Stories of parental behaviour at kids’ football

The one in the states where they all pulled guns on each other! No arrests.

Utterly insane country.
I did play in a game in baltimore where a lad got sent off, went back to his car and got a machete out and had to be held back from the ref.

I also hid behind a tree at training while a drug gun battle was going off at the far end of the park

Americans, they’re f….n nuts

I was at U8 just this morning and the opposing coach is all over the ref (who is about 16 himself) to give fouls etc.

My lad made a brilliant slide tackle (which is a foul at this level) in front of him and he’s going “ref that’s twice! That’s twice ref!”. What does he want, a red card?

I dread to think what he’ll be like when that team gets to U16 etc. These are kids who still need help to tie their laces.

At Billingham Town?

I do think the North Riding should have more of a presence at games, especially those involving these young kids who are refereeing. I believe they get a mentor but a lot of the time I find they’re on their own and In the wrong environment it can be really tough for them. The North Riding would probably argue it’s the TJFAs responsibility but they are responsible for the game as a whole. And let’s be honest, it’s not money because the games dripping in cash so I’m not having that, it needs to be prioritised more effectively. I never used to like the idea of playing fixtures at a central venue, like the Russel Foster league do, but it might make it easier to police this type of behaviour and ban repeat offenders.

All kicked off at my daughters u12s game today. Theres was a lad playing on the opposite team and he pushed one of the lasses on our team in the back off the ball. Our coach called it out and that was it parents shouting and swearing over the field at each other. Just no need for it they're kids at the end of the day.

Do you play in the Manchester Respect League at U8s?

One of our former players parents tried to get the CLUB shut down, made a formal complaint to the FA regarding what they perceived to be a serious safeguarding breach. All because their son sulked when he wasn't playing and sat by himself at the other side of the pitch......

Club is a registered charity, 800+ players 70 teams.....so level of anger/petulance off the scale.

Proper kicked off after a game last summer, they ambushed us at our post game team talk, arguments started in front of the kids, messy.

I complained about their behaviour to the club who kicked them out. Cue the FA complaint......

FA told them to f*ck off. End of. Mental.

We've been pretty lucky with parents and opposition coaches, just a couple of unsavoury incidents.....far outweighed by positive experiences.

It's mad junior football.

OMG that’s mental.

That said, isn’t the ethos that players get equal minutes etc?

Co-coached a team from U7s up to 17s. The coaches with clip boards and diagrams etc were hilarious. Some obviously living out their fantasies. There were some pretty nasty parental moments over the years but actually few and far betweens ... aside from the excessive yelling of derogatory remarks, which was pretty frequent. The worst offender that I can remember for that .... giving players and especially the ref dogs abuse, was Paddy Kenny. An absolute bell end.
Sounds like all those years of being managed by Warnock has rubbed off on him!
