Stop the abuse please

This country has gone under a massive change in 2 weeks. Now I have a lot of respect for the royal family, but I do understand a lot don't and that's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. What's p!ssing me off now about this board, on any difference, is the amount of name calling, trolling and down right abuse that people get/receive for going against someone else's beliefs....in any topic. If you disagree that's fine, and a constructive argument is always a great discussion....but stop acting like 5 year olds because people have an opinion. It's really beginning to put me off commentating on anything here any more

Completely agree, in the last couple of weeks I’ve been called a d*ck, weird, my parents have been brought into it and even had an admin messaging me accusing me of slandering him.

I’ve never slandered anyone on here. I’ll disagree with you, but I won’t sink to personal insults.

The problem is some people just don’t want their views challenged, the reasons behind that are unknown, so will just reality to name calling than trying to have any meaningful discussion.

It’s all Kieran Scott’s fault.

You could do with some self reflection about how you approach a subject and how to time the type of argument you want to have

I think that falls into the category of response the OP was discussing.

Most of us are adults and are capable of making our own decisions of when to input and when not.
Some people will disagree about the timing - that ought to be ok.

I don't "do" social media at all now, apart from this forum. Have left a few times due to the pure vile that is thrown around at times. My therapist once said to me, does it take you towards or away from your goal? Facebook, gone as it took me away, this place, undecided but I do love some of the banter, when it is banter.

I think it’s clear cut that thread about a death or a threads about funeral, you don’t need to discuss anything else other than the events being discussed. Those threads demand the utmost respect in that situation

Going out of you way to tell people you avoid the funeral on a thread about a funeral is in my opinion out of line

You wouldn’t go a rip for a football or musician and say they were crap at what they did

If Steve Gibson died, it wouldn’t be right to discuss his successor on his funeral thread

My opinion of this board has reduced drastically the past few weeks, to the point where I’ve questioned if I want to be associated with it.

I always tended to avoid the politics threads but some of the stuff banded about the Queen has really shown the board at its worst.

Anyways, I’m hopeful it will pass and onwards and upwards as it’s a decent place (on the whole) with some great characters.

Its been raised a few times in the past but there really does need to be separate forums. One for Boro & football, one for politics and one for everything else. Many threads on here now, regardless of the subject, turn into a political slagging match and it completely ruins it.

Agree, everything is done is favour of the admin to make their job easy as possible without a 2nd thought for customer experience

One place for everything, adverts, no explanation for naughty step or bans

I understand why it’s like that but it really frustrating. I’m sure people would volunteer to moderate the site to help etc

I’ve been awake half the night, I can’t sleep my meds are kicking in.

Some of the stuff I’ve read on here recently. There’s a time and a place. I’ll Say no more.

(Twitter is far worse though )
Totally agree...came off there a long time ago

I try to operate on the principles of never type when angry, give it a bit of time to calm down and also never post anything you wouldn't say to someone's face.

It is easy to have an online 'persona' where you are braver and more controversial than you would be in real life in conversation, but I try to stay true to myself and make the type of comments I would usually make if having a conversation in person. (Yes at times that will be inane drivel, or something that amuses me and me only!).

TBH I have not seen one second of funeral as I am abroad. Only skimmed over the threads but most of it is much ado about nothing.
That said grown men should know when to criticise and on ther otherwise of the coin grown men should be able to accept a bit of criticism.

As far as I could see there was just one thread on the funeral yesterday which was remarkable given the day and nothing else going on. Also refreshing was that almost all of it reflected the positives.
