I have voted Green Labour and Lib Dem, on policy decisions and leadership.
I could never vote BNP, Conservative, UKiP ( or whatever that is now) or even for a communist party. It doesn’t matter what policy they may be offering, that would benefit me specifically, at the time.
There are core values that underpin these parties, and define what type of society we exist in. You cannot flip flop between them, without being ignorant or a sociopath at best.
Bit strong but there you go.
Some are ‘ignorant’ in the sense they have never seen a world other than the opulence they live in. They don’t want to understand life outside that and will happily vote to keep their status quo.
There are those who do understand the NHS, poverty and social injustice - but it’s not as important to them as protecting their personal wealth and personal interests.
One of my friends can talk long into the night about social injustice and voted for Blair. He has met Rachel Reeves and Wes Streeting and is ‘impressed’ with both.
He has told me he will not vote Labour this time tho.
He is fiercely wealthy, pays his taxes, worked very hard for it, and doesn’t want the risk, however small that is, of it being attacked by a Labour government.
I would use the word ‘selfish’ rather than sociopath - but its a fine balance.
I’ve told him he probably won’t have a choice.
