Steven Walker

Shocking as he was tipped for the big time once yo him fall so much

Never really happened for him did it.
Imagine how many just get dropped off without a trace.. lucky that he got to the level he got to tbh.. hopefully that injury issue has been resolved and he can enjoy a decent career.

Ste Walker hasn't fallen down the football league pyramid because he's been unlucky with injuries, it"s because he's an utter **** who insists on hanging around with the sort of company even Hitler would disapprove of

Really, how do you know this? And who is he knocking around with that Hitler would disapprove of..?

Walker had spent the early weeks of pre-season on loan at Carlisle United, with manager Paul Simpson having worked with him in the England youth set-up. Carlisle are looking to strengthen their squad after winning promotion to League One last season. Walker played two friendly games for the Cumbrians against Annan Athletic and Gretna 2008, and even scored the winning goal in the former.

But after Walker's trial came to an end, Simpson explained: “I didn’t feel as though he was going to push the first team. He’s had a long time off from playing football, he had a glandular fever illness, and unfortunately he just wasn’t at the level.

“As much as I wanted to try and help him, and as much as I wanted to see the footballer in him that I know is there, because I remember him playing for England U19s, I had to make a decision. I know what he is. You could even see glimpses of that in the work he did, but I can’t afford to wait.

“We need to start the season with a group of players who are ready to hit the ground running, and that’s why we don’t have time to wait. I just couldn’t wait for him to get fit. Unfortunately I had to have that discussion with him.

"That was last Friday, because as much as I like the lad, and I also like him as a footballer, we can’t be a nursing home to get these lads right. Sometimes we have to be ruthless and these decisions have to be made.”

Assistant manager Gavin Skelton had first revealed that Walker was no longer training with the third-tier outfit when speaking with the News and Star in Carlisle earlier in the week. Skelton said: “He’s moved on. He picked up a slight injury but he’s looking at different options, and that’s the same for us. He’s not with us now.”

Didn't realise about the glandular fever. But if he left Boro due to injury / illness why did he just disappear and they never said anything about him leaving?

Mind you Brad James has also left after injuries and the club said nothing either.

a young player with a long absence.. especially being so close to the first team at one point.. it's gotta be tough. I don't think injuries and abscesses are celebrated by the clubs or the players tbh..

sounded a bit like warnock wanted to move him on to get more game time.. so maybe the lads mind was made up that he was moving on in any case.

on his move..

Walker grabbed the winner against Durham FC Corinthians in the Durham Challenge Cup - just 24 hours after joining Town. On Walker's arrival, West Auckland chairman Mark Forrest said: "We are delighted to announce Stephen Walker has signed for the club.

"Stephen's pedigree, ability and experience will be invaluable for the club moving forward. This signing shows the trust players are putting into the club and that is something I am very proud of."

Manager Gary Forrest added: "I would like to welcome Stephen to the club. He is a player who has played at the very highest standard and our goal is to get him upto speed as quick as possible and give him a platform to enjoy his football.

Without being daft about it.. he could be off to a league two/league one team in January and that would be a canny bit of business for West Auckland.

Fingers crossed for the lad, I wish him the very best.

You do post some utter crap don’t you.
Okay not Hitler. Maybe Goebbels.

Fact is, Ste Walker has ruined his own career, not injuries. The lad was given every opportunity at Boro to progress to the first team but just didn't have the professionalism in him to stay away from all the temptation that comes with being a young professional footballer.

I read that Ste Walker article in The Echo just this morning. It's really sad though isn't it? A real young talent has slipped down to the bottom, even if he has been in poor company previously, and are too bad to join Hitler's gang. He's a young lad, who has been troubled by injury and illness and looks like he's been dealt a pretty tough hand to play. Many would buckle under that.
Good luck Ste at West, my mates team, who said he still showed class, there's still talent there, and he looked classy for that division.

17 matches with Hayden Hackney 21yo - Boro
16 matches with Sol Brynn 22yo - Leyton Orient
18 matches with Djed Spence 23yo - Leeds
17 matches with Marcus Tavernier 24yo - Bournemouth
25 matches with Billal Brahimi 23yo - Stade Brestois
------------------------------------------------------------
26 matches with Stephen Wearne 22yo - Gateshead - National League
34 matches with Ben Liddle 24 yo - Darlington - National League North
36 matches with Daniel Dodds 22yo - Hartlepool - National League
45 matches with Tyrone O'Neill 23yo - Shildon AFC - Northern Premier League East Division
46 matches with Connor Malley 23yo - Dundalk - League of Ireland Premier Division

Looking at his teammates with the most amount of games that he's played with.. you can start to get a picture of where he is and where he should be.

Stephen Wearne is doing well for Gateshead and I think he will move back up the divisions.. had a bit of a stuttering start at Grimsby Town last season.

Stephen Walker is still only 22yo and I think he'll hit the ground running and start making back some lost time. The next 2 or 3 years will be crucial and he'll need a good head on his shoulders. Jamie Vardy must be the beacon for so many young players. Lee Tomlin was still only Conference Premier aged 21.. games under his belt and goals to his name he got a well deserved move to League One and then the Championship.

If he can overcome that period of arrested development.. there's no reason why he can't make the championship in the next few years. I'd be on the blower to Chuba Akpom and get a borrow of that video he was watching!
