Steffen: Keep or Dump?

Not the most reliable of sources, but if true, £10M should put an end to the thought of him coming back whatever your view.

Steffen Fee Allegedly Set
No chance anyone will pay 10m for a player that cost Man City 6m and flopped there.

On top of that wages would likely be 40k+ so 2m a year. 4 year deal 18m+ bonuses and agent fees, knocking on 20m.

No side that would want Steffen could afford to a 20m deal for him. I suspect he will go out on loan again, then they'll sell a year from now for 5m

I'd like to think we will take a good look at Sol Brynn pre season and give him every opportunity to claim the no1 spot. I'll be honest I haven't seen him in action however he seems to have shone everywhere he's gone, winning player of the season awards etc. In terms of his loans I don't think there's any more the lad could have done. The fans of the clubs he's gone to seem to rate him very highly. If he comes into the fold and does well it could save us a fortune.

Caoimhín Kelleher

The likes of Brighton, Brentford, Spurs, and Leicester City were all said to be considering a bid to sign him on a permanent basis..

Brighton - Bert Verbruggen - Anderlecht - £17m
Brentford - Mark Flekken - Freiburg - £11m
Spurs - Guglielmo Vicario - Empoli - £17m
Leicester -Zach Steffen - Manchester City - Whatever dude

I wouldn’t trust him in a big game. I think he could have done better with the Coventry goal in the play off. At Sunderland he gifted them an opportunity which they should have buried and with the Fry sending off he could have come off his line quicker.

Steffen got a lot of stick last season, some of which was valid. I'd like him back, but think Darlow would prove to be a great signing for us, and is more than capable of playing the way we want our keeper to play.

It’s going to be difficult if not impossible to compete with any of the relegated clubs fees/wages we just have to accept that.

Giles/Steffen were important players for us last year but neither are irreplaceable and neither was the best in their position in the league last year although I accept Giles offers much more going forward than your average defender.

We need a goalkeeper who has some of the qualities of Steffen that's for sure, but it's also fair to say that many of the keepers who are coming through the academies are very much in the new vein of keepers skills, ie. ball distribution. I quite the idea of bringing in a keeper such as Randolph, who at 36 probably will be released by WHU in some capacity.
