Spiders are about

it's party season for house spiders and the kids are freaking out. What is it about these little, harmless creatures?

I’ve been abroad a couple of weeks but in the fortnight before that had about six absolute whoppers, some battles were had!

I got bit by one in florida years ago that was called the florida shoe spider.
Didn't feel anything until my left leg suddenly resembled the leg of a hippopotamus and began dragging behind me
Bairdy was not happy.

I hate spiders, especially the big fückers that run across the front room when you're sat watching TV, but we have 3 cats and they love them.

Don't bother me, I just pick them up and put them outside, they scare the crap out of my partner, if they were poisonous I'd react differently. Wouldn't go near any in Australia 😬

Just listening to a podcast about spiders and apparently what you see are all horny male spiders looking for a last shag before dying as the weather chills. They will only bite if they feel in mortal danger so use the glass/beermat technique for removal. Of course, the really big ones...

Absolutely terrified of them

Once trapped in the kitchen by one, running from one side of the kitchen to the other

I could have jumped over it of course but at that moment the thought of it leaping in to the air and taking me down entered my head.....had to be rescued by the wife

My fear of them really is that ridiculous

That's what I'm wondering about.. the irrational fear. There's one in my boy's room which I can't find, about 3 cm long, a titch, and I can't find it. He won't sleep in there now until I catch it. Possibly the cats have eaten it. Can't convince him, though.
I came across a whopper in a shower cubicle in Thailand once, as big as my hand, I was half way through my shower and it was crawling up the wall very close, long hairy legs, the type you see in zoos. Fear got the better of me and I ran for it.

Our cat also destroys any spider or house fly it sees with a swift right hook and then makes a snack of it.

I saw a nice sized spider in the kitchen at 4am. Only thumb sized and not like the ones running about our "room" in Livingstone a few years ago., there were the size of 2 hands! Solifugae Spiders, not venomous and "fun" to watch 10 or so running like crazy.
