After last season introduction of Spence and how direct and willing he showed I thought we had a right good player on our books, but I think he has been really really poor this season. Doesn’t seem interested

I think he still has a lot to learn, he has great pace, an engine, amazing balance, but it's decision making that is the issue. Still only 20 though, time to improve

The amount of times he lost the ball in good positions was infuriating, and outright incompetent.

I honestly don't understand how anybody can rate him, he's league 1 at at a push. Awful awful player.

When he came into the first team it was suggested that he was inconsistent. I thought he was okayish. Cut the ball back well to kebano. Needs more of that composure and the ability to cross the ball. Defensively he was good but has the tendency to switch off.

I agree. Our throw ins are poor, really poor. To clarify though I meant opposition throw ins. He always switches off and let’s the player he’s marking run in behind, did it last night and the Cov player got into a a great position to potentially create a goal.

I understand where you were coming from, I have thought a few times this season our game just falls down once we receive a throwin in the oppositions half, we have had on two occassions the ball going out for a goalkick from our throw, something we need to work on

Absolutely not looking for it. It’s hard to miss, I always check and think who’s he ran off and then you see Spence panicking and it’s clearly him. I thought he was ok last night and would keep him in the team on Saturday I think.

What I find the most frustrating is when we have an "attacking" throw in, the wide midfield, whoever it may be, simply passes back to the person in the full back position. A possession based game, I understand that.
The full back, usually Paddy, then knocks it back to Bettinelli who hoofs it down the park where, with the lack of any physical presence, we lose the ball. It then becomes a midfield tussle to see who can pick up the scraps.
The end result is that throw ins are very rarely an advantage, in fact, I do not have the stats, but I would say we do better from opposition throw ins.

It did happen though, and has happened, I noticed it last night but his pace got us out of trouble as he recovered. A better forward would have been in behind him and we could have conceded.

Djed, largely had a good game last night, agreed, however, some of his failures were stark, such as holding onto the ball in at the wrong time and therefore losing it, not making the right run to create space for the teammate on the ball, and yes switching off defensively and not reacting to the runner. But, saying that, he played fairly well in spite of those issues.
