So who's next for having a shot at being PM

We've not had too much luck recently.

Cameron caved into hid radical wingnuts and resulting in the nation being screwed for the foreseeable future.
May had been dealt Cameron's bad deal, did what she thought was best, but there was no way to please all the crazies in the party.

Johnson (a bit like Cameron his Eton chum) said whatever it took to get the job, hat's all he ever cared about.

Sadly for the nation having a lying fat lazy clown in charge when the brexit/covid dung hit the fan was never going to turn out well. There is only so many times he can try to deflect attention by dipping into his dressing up box and going cosplaying in hospitals, police stations, building sites etc. The joke isn't funny anymore / the party's over.

So who's next ... it's scary when you see what's on offer, it's not exactly the best of the best is it.

Sunak seems popular, steady pair of hands and all that. Not sure myself about this. He knows when to keep his head down and I'm not sure how he would cope front and centre of political rough and tumble. My other concern about Sunak is he likes his money. Currently the food and entertainment sectors are getting clobbered by covid with the likelihood of more restrictions coming in they may need help from the government to tide them through.

So where is Sunak? ... apparently he's been on manoeuvres in the States talking to private health companies. If he gets behind the desk at No.10 I wouldn't put it past him to turn round and say due to covid the country is skint so he had had no choice but to raise some cash by selling the NHS to some friends he knows stateside... and along the way I'm sure his family and friends in the city might just so happen to pick up a few crumbs from the table.

Selling the NHS has been the number one goal for quite some time now.Tony Blair threw a few scraps to the wolves with the conservative led PFI initiatives ‘reform’ was put in place by clegg and Cameron to get the wheels in motion, ‘bodybag’ boris delivers the fatal blows then it will be the likes of Sunak that ‘saves the day’ by selling everything off and delivering an American model of national healthcare provision.

I think it will be Michael Gove. Gove and Cummings have dug a thousand holes that Boris keeps falling into, eventually he's not going to be able to get himself out of one.
Weasel face Gove and Cummings the Mag will soon be at the wheel. Joy.

Nailed on Sunak.

Boris was useful to get Brexit over the line but I'm sure the Tories will return to a safer pair of hands. Sunak ticks all of the boxes. He received universal praise with the furlogh scheme while his colleagues were messing up daily during the pandemic. Most importantly he seems to be scandal free so will have that teflon element. Gove would be a liability for the Tories.

This will be the third 'try before you buy' which they've span with the electorate and I think that we're all able to see the pattern.

They dump the deadwood, bring in the new person for the 'new Churchill/Thatcher' headlines and an election victory, then we come to realise that all their energy was spent on rising to the top of their party rather than gathering any kind of strategy or system for moving the country on.

If they want a new leader, fine: but give us an election straight afterwards: persuade us with ideas rather than getting the dressing up box out and using the machinery of government to just look the part for 18 months.

Sunak has being positioning himself for a while I think, but he be equally a bad as BJ, for different reasons.

There seems to be a growing influence from the hard right and Thatcherites which is frightening to be perfectly honesty and makes me think that BJ is just a symptom not the cause.

Exactly this Jonny. The tory party have worse divisions and factions than Labour. It's going to be difficult to square that circle. The right wing of the party are emboldened and have seen an opportunity and they won't let it go easily.

As for sunak.... Well as a chancellor he had been deafening in his silence. There is no way we know what kind of pm he will be. He seems a bit wishy washy to me and if he can't bluster his way through pmqs he may struggle.

Sunak has been keeping his head right down and out of the line of fire for at least a month now. Wise move if you want a tilt at the top job, but not a trait that’s any good if you get it.

Gove? You can’t make a coke head pm.

Patel, the very though gives me shivers.

Liz Truss, my god, you might as well leave Bozo in post

We‘re fecked. l‘ll do it.

No, put her in there….after the next election the Tories would be out of power for a generation.
The Ultras would want her..probably think she’s more controllable.
Sunak, not so much. Strongly believe his allegiance belongs to an entirely different agenda.

Cant help sharing this snippet from the Mail:

[on Lord Frosty walkout]....

"Messages from a Whatsapp group of more than 100 Tory MPs titled 'Clean Global Brexit', reveal Andrew Bridgen describing the move as a 'disaster' while Theresa Villiers calls it 'very worrying', Sky News reports.

Culture minister Nadine Dorries described Mr Johnson as a 'hero' and then appears to be removed from the group before Steve Baker writes 'Enough is enough'. "

Maybe its a romantic point of view, but shouldn't our political leaders be of the people, for the people?

Given Sunak married into one of the richest families in India and is and ex city banking analyst I tend to think he won't be representing the best interests of the common man and woman.

Of course he won't. I have met his father-in-law a couple of times and he is a lovely bloke, not sure I would describe him as a socialist, but he setup infosys with a lot of charitable endeavour baked in, and it's why he walked away from Infosys.

Very likely outcome , a pair of devious sods playing the long game , Gove has always lurked , waiting
