So, the election for mayor of London, then

Well quite, there is no one worth voting for including khan. You'd hope there would be someone for the disenfranchised. Especially after Grenfell. Shame Rory whatisface decided not to run.

Keeping your head down and not wasting money? House prices went up by what 6? 8 percent in the middle of a pandemic. And yet you still hear more about brexit. We are in the middle of a crisis in London. We need a mayor who reflects that. All we have is candidates for well to do people.

No, not “keeping your head down” the achievements people have listed in the thread.

Has the major got the ability to control the cost of housing? Genuine question

Rory Stewart was a evangelist for austerity..he wouldn't have helped with housing.

I totally agree about housing and it needs tackling urgently. But I think a radical national plan would be a better approach. Ban on massive buy to let empires, massive house building programme. Unlikely to happen from the rentier party or any of its erstwhile members (Stewart) though.

I was wondering that. Whether it was a mayoral thing or a government thing?

I do think we actually need more clarity of what the Mayors office does. I’ve seen the usual suspects criticise Khan for things outside his jurisdiction

The mayor has powers over building houses. Last year khan was making a lot of promising noises about fighting for rent control. We've not heard much really this year. He needs to win that battle.
He says the right things often - the idiot housing secretary thinks London doesn't need one beds, khan was arguing against this. But it needs to translate into results which it has not.
There is only one thing in the last 20 years that has helped alleviate the crisis and that's covid.

Seems to have done a good job in London compared with the rest of the country.

So who are you voting for then?
