So have Wigan been officially deducted the 12 points !?!

I don’t trust the FA/EFL either but as others have said the repercussions of overturning this are just too big for them to have any chance.
I don't like having to rely on appeals and deductions. Let's do it on the pitch, I trust Warnock to have us organised enough to get a point. If he doesn't I have bet a tenner on the other results going against us! 🙄

Even though it is obvious now that they won’t finish in bottom 3, the EFL won’t apply the deduction until after the final game. This is because they apply the rule consistently every season and sometimes it might go to the last game so the rule has to be always apply it after the final games just in case. I think Bolton got it carried over as to apply it when you are already going down isn’t really a penalty at all so it rolls over to your next season
I know and appreciate that. My point was what is the point of delaying the deduction if they know Wigan cannot possibly finish in the bottom 3. The circumstances are crying out for clarity I guess is what people are saying but I get the point that it’s procedure to do it at the end.

I believe it was after Leeds deliberately put themselves into administration in 2007 immediately after they knew they were mathematically certain to be relegated that the rule changed. They did it to avoid the then 10 point deduction to apply in the third tier. The rule now states the points deduction will take place at the end of the season depending on where that Club finishes. In the bottom 3 then they apply the following season, or there and then if not and at the completion of the League Fixtures. I think this is the first time that a Club has gone into admin but fought on to survive which causes this issue.

The irony is that Leeds received a further point deduction at the start the following season because they were still in a CVA.

Remember going to that game, Lennie played Kav up front on his own because we were out of forwards. What we would give to have the spirit of Mustoe, Pollock and Kavanagh now.
Pollock was sat next to me😀

On his crutches (sure it was this game)

I think we'll be OK but if the worst does actually happen & nothing happens to mentioned clubs then Steve Gibson will rightly stay quiet & do it his way, spend big, if we have the money & show the EFL & the FFP they are nothing more than just letters, that don't mean a jot
He won't keep quiet, he will sue and rightly so. Rules have clearly been broken and precedent exists for the penalty for breaking the rules

Remember going to 1st division Sheff Weds in a league cup reply with a patched up Boro team, when Lennie was in his final season, we got to FT level & marginally lost in ET, that fighting spirit will see us through on Wednesday 👍

Fighting spirit?! I know what you mean, but I ain't seen much of that this season.

If the EFL pulled their finger out and actually applied the law regarding stadia deals, the league would look very different:

Luton 48
Barnsley 46
Hull 45
Wigan 43
-----------
Derby 40pts
Sheff Wed 35pts
Birmingham 29pts

If they apply penalties next season, the season could start, 12points for FFP failure, and 21 for fraudulent accounting on stadia, the league should start:

The rest 0
Villa -15
Bournemouth -15
Derby -21
Sheff Wed -21
Birmingham -21

If they did apply those deductions next season, I would be confident of staying up next year too 😁

Wigan went into administration therefore get a 12 point deduction it's as simple as that.
New owner took over after the start of Covid -19 so not a leg to stand on.
They would appeal wouldn't you? Nothing to lose but it's a forlorn hope.
Simples

Just had some random on facebook with a wigan badge avatar message me about how they didn't cheat it was the dodgy owners....err, ok mate. I went easy on him, I know how he is feeling. I said I feel for him, it isn't fair on the fans, like it wasn't on Pompey or Coventry fans, and on the pitch they proved themselves a very decent team, but administration = 12 points, it couldn't be clearer. He then blocked me.

I guess it must be pretty awful being a Wigan fan tonight, it's the double whammy of being one of the best 2 teams in the league since February, and the slight glimmer of hope of an appeal, but knowing in your heart you're gone, and a very promising team will be picked apart. I bet Barnsley fans are having schizophrenic episodes being delirious then stressed, then delirious again
