So Farewell then BT Sport

The Italian football representation came in the form of The Athletic’s James Horncastle, who provided greater in-depth coverage alongside former United and Bayern Munich player Owen Hargreaves. This was the only area of BT’s coverage that was superior to its competitors’.

I said on the night to have a European especially Italian football sage like James horncastle and then all but ignore him was odd.

What a waste.

I was never a big fan of Tyldesley until people like Matterface came on the scene.

Brian Moore and Barry Davis will never be beaten.
Agree. Tyldesley used to irritate the hell out of me but was still infinite better than Matterface who is appalling. Barry Davies was fabulous and loved his commentary. It may not be popular with some but I thought David Coleman was the best.

David Coleman the master I agree.

“Carlos Alberto, that’s dangerous, Jairzinho, oh and he left Cooper standing, Pele….what a save! Gordon Banks, picked that out of the net.”

“One nil!”

The reason it seems crap is because it’s £30/month and people perceive it to have ruined the CL in the UK, what used to be good midweek viewing on FTA that most neutrals would watch and provide water cooler talking points.

Now it’s just something you have to tolerate during the latter stages. I watched on CBS as I was in the US and it was better, but BT having exclusive rights to ALL rounds of the CL (before the final) has basically ruined the tournament for me.

Good riddance but they are just rebranding anyway.

What I would say is that BT Sport Films were good, mostly.

Goals pay the rent and Keegan pays his dues

The goalkeepers arms were just long enough

Clemence’s Day is now complete. A total disaster.

Stokes. He’s onside. One nil.

I can’t stand Richard Keyes and his fake Geordie luv in.

I remember seeing him at the riverside when the tv box was in the NW corner. He had his feet up on the desk fast asleep.

I think the last time I watched a European game it was on ITV and had Ron Atkinson co commentating. It's a shame there's no live football other than the FA cup on free telly these days. Would much rather watch European competition than dull England nations league matches or qualifiers.

BT Sport was fantastic when they had the Saturday 5.30 kick offs - a great slot (as Sky recognised when they pulled rank and took it). They had Ferdinand, Gerrard, - sometimes Scholes, Henry maybe - big name players from the same generation who all had a tongue in their heads and who would all have anecdotes about the England team, club rivalries, managers like Hoddle, Eriksen, Capello Ferguson etc; it was compelling viewing, groundbreaking at the time. Humphries would manage it fluidly and take being the brunt of their jokes. Lineker was doing the Chamipons League midweek games at the time, and he was good too - as always.
It has lost its way since though: too random a cast of pundits as it no longer had that regular vibe (I almost never catch the 12.30 Saturday game now - a really inconvenient time). Hargreaves is good on CL nights.
McManaman is deeply irritating; someone who likes the sound of his own voice more than Glenn Hoddle.

I have to say, I really don't get it with Micah Richards. Do you get extra points for laughing or something? He's improved, but from a very low starting position.

I've only caught a couple of the finals West Ham & City on YouTube & the 'banter boys' are terrible - I wondered if it was my age, though I know even back in the day I wanted - football & tactical insight- not a jolly boys shouting match.. seems the all want to be centre stage..

I've never been a fan of - just - ex players, give me managers & coaches.. people with insight not too much ego & social media space to effluence..

I rarely listen to any punditry. Switch on for ko and off at the end. Spend half time on my phone.
Find most of them incredibly boring
