He's steady, been a good part of our recent success, but lets be honest he's a short term, sticky plaster solution to that position. Selling and replacing him now would be 6 months earlier than desired, but it wouldn't be a disaster.
 
Dijksteel is a very capable right back who could replace Smith, however, the last thing we need right now is instability.
Stay till summer.
 
I'd keep him. Very much part of the improvement of the team. Carrick vocal about he's a leader.

I think it would be a big loss to lose him in Jan. How easy to replace for the peanuts we will recieve? Jones not good enough and Diijksteel injury prone and not fancied.

So I guess we'd need to buy one. Why? When we have a decent one already. Just seems odd to rock the boat in a winking side.

That said. You can't blame him if he actively wants the move. More security and no doubt more money. Also a decent side. So I imagine he's probably going to want it. Unless we match or make a similar offer.

I mean he's 30. He's not the Peltier or Bamba some think he is 😂

Dijksteel is a capable player - when he's fit. But we haven't seem him in 3 months plus and his return isn't looking imminent. Yes, definitely keep Smith until summer.

He only got injured late in December.

Before that, he just wasn't getting picked.
