Do you have any managerial experience Trug? When this knackered old laptop is playing silly buggers with me I just give it a right b0llocking and threaten to stop using it entirely and to just use my work laptop instead if it doesn't pull its bloody finger out and sort itself out and that usually works. You can't let machines get above their station. They need to be put in their place. If you don't remind them who's boss then before you know it they'll have conquered the world and enslaved us.are there any free programmes I can download to speed up my laptop. I have Ccleaner but it doesn't help much. Thank you

Whats slow?are there any free programmes I can download to speed up my laptop. I have Ccleaner but it doesn't help much. Thank you
Not if the hard drive is an SSD!Get the CCleaner Defraggler as well and run that.
CPU says it is at 100% when loading but I cannot see what it is that is using that much.
That won't always help. I had an old laptop that was constantly running at 100% CPU but according to Task Manager everything was fine. That may well have been a fan/ overheating issue though as Druss suggested above. I shouldn't really be posting on this thread. I know sod all about computers.Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and select Task Manager and click on the Processes tab and then on the CPU tab and see what processes are using the CPU most
I do FD- The graph shows 100% usage but the list of programmes all show low usage that does not come anywhere near 100%Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and select Task Manager and click on the Processes tab and then on the CPU tab and see what processes are using the CPU most
"event viewer"?First thing I would do is look at the event viewer to see if there are any error messages
make sure you are viewing process by ALL users not just you ie the system and others masqueradingI do FD- The graph shows 100% usage but the list of programmes all show low usage that does not come anywhere near 100%
