My dad was an only son of a Protestant family from Grove Hill and my mam was one of seven girls and one brother from a Catholic family from Upper Branch Street, South Bank.

So I spent most of my upbringing in G-town and South Bank in the early 60s.

I've just stumbled on this vid. It's exactly as I remember it as a kid.

born in queen street, its not there now, well most isnt, theres some new builds

memories are a cobblers at one end and the footy ground at the other, my aunty had the hairdressers at the normanby road end used to watch the footy from upstairs

One of the best things I've seen on here. Both brilliant and sad.
 
Whole communities gone. I used to go to Clay Lane training in the 70s. It was a thriving hub which was allowed to die fairly quickly.
Good to watch but also quite sad.
