Saw them at the Rock Garden. The late single "when I'm Dancing I Ain't Fighting" was a popular song at the time.
Can't believe that. Saw all of those at the R.G and only the Clash disappointed but only due to poor sound at the gig. Loved Slade at the R.G but the others were amazing as well.Of all the big bands I missed (Pistols, Clash, Stranglers) at the Rock Garden, Slade were the only ones I regretted missing Loved them in the very early 70's.
I was DJing in the working men's club next door that night. I remember the blast of Gudbuy T'Jane coming through the walls as they were soundchecking and I was setting my gear up.Saw them at the Rock Garden. The late single "when I'm Dancing I Ain't Fighting" was a popular song at the time.
Slade still going… but not exactly going strong. Just Dave Hill and the anons.
Get down and get with it at Margate Dreamland.
I didn’t know that about AC/DC and Noddy.Slade by name only. They have a vocalist who sounds like a bad Brian Johnson (btw Noddy was AC/DCs first choice after Bon Scott died, but he turned them down), and only Dave Hill left from the original band. Holder/Lea were the song writers and they can retire very nicely just on Merry Xmas Everybody.
Slade Alive still one of the best live albums I've heard. Shame they went all party songs towards the end.
Yeah I was there that night. My ears were ringing for a month.Saw them at the Rock Garden. The late single "when I'm Dancing I Ain't Fighting" was a popular song at the time.
