Sky games next season, 5 per weekend..

As much as I dislike what this does; they've been pretty clear on what is happening.

First and last weekend games - all on TV, some will get moved on first weekend.
Weekends - 5 games moved away from 3pm Saturday every 'normal' weekend.
Christmas, New Year, Easter - all games shown on Sky, some will get moved.
Midweek scheduled fixtures - all on Sky.
League Cup - all on Sky.

It's 30 league games on Sky per club; mixture of moved and not. Probably a third moved depending on the games in the holidays.
Well that ties up doesn't it?

30 league games on TV.

Circa 15 matches at 3pm on a Saturday?

What's a one match discrepancy between friends?

So what proportion of matches will be at Saturday 3pm in total? Around one third?

7 of the 12 weekend fixtures, so 58% of the whole Championship each weekend.

This season, 32 of our matches initially were scheduled for Saturday 3pm at the start of the season.
So if that's a similar pattern going forwards, 69% of our matches will be on a weekend and around 30% of them will be moved for TV.

If I've worked that out right anyway.

I counted up how many weekend games this season. Took 58% of that number and I was left with 15.

It may vary slightly with FA cup games going back to Saturdays and without checking how Bank Holidays lie over xmas etc.

But the number of total 3pm kick offs will be ball park 15no.
So assume 7 or 8 home 3pm kick offs.

So around 13 games moved for TV, on average.

But no FA Cup replays....so that will help (n)

They said in the agreement that they're expecting each club to be live approximately 23 times per season.
That includes all midweek fixtures, which will possibly increase by one this season with the FA Cup changes, the opening day and final day, then there's Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Easter weekend.
So that's 14-15 of them covered before any fixtures are moved, so there'd only be about 8 moved unless you were doing really well and they wanted you on more.

I suppose you could class the opening day and final day as being moved too as they're surely all going to be half 12 kick-offs.

So we're expecting about 10 Saturday 3pms?

3pm Saturday is outdated for me. I would like to see clubs experiment with kick off times.
If we had 5pm KO I could get back to Newark on the train alright personally speaking. Gives families the day together then those who like football go to the match.
It works well in Ireland with fans going into the club bars afterwards

So assuming our game isn't one of the chosen ones on a specific weekend i'm assuming there is no way of watching it (other than dodgy streams) as they aren't doing iFollow games next season?

Saturday afternoon is a relic of the Victorian era, when most people worked Saturday mornings, you couldn’t play after sunset as it was dark, and you couldn’t play on a Sunday as you’d burn in hell. None of this applies anymore.

It still works well as a kickoff time for away fans who have a medium to long-distance to travel, as Sunday is worse for transport, and the evening slots are likely to be impossible. But for home fans who don’t have a long way to travel I think we’re just wedded to it out of habit. In fact, of all the weekend slots, from Friday through to Monday evening it is the one that is most likely to have people unable to go because of work.

If you're abroad there will be. But that's the same as it is now.

Or even if you're, you know, 'abroad'.
