Sky games next season, 5 per weekend..

So assuming our game isn't one of the chosen ones on a specific weekend i'm assuming there is no way of watching it (other than dodgy streams) as they aren't doing iFollow games next seaseason
They are.still being streamed internationally so presumably dodgy sticks and streaming sites won't be affected

Nope, not a chance. Will be way more than that. They're guaranteeing a minimum of on average 27.333 games a season.

Not a chance or not, it's what the EFL published.

The top clubs will be picked significantly more, as expected.

I'm guessing the Rotherham style clubs will be picked significantly less, but will get at least 23, with most of them being covered by midweek, bank holidays and opening and final day.

I don't think anything's been decided re iFollow, but from the Sky announcement it sounded like it may not continue.

I live abroad although I can't install a VPN on my computer for various reasons, but even if I could how could I access Sky games without a subscription and no way of having a UK address? Dodgy streams for me are becoming almost impossible to find. Last night's game was the first I've missed for ages because I couldn't find anything, so it was commentary only which is virtually useless.

EDIT The section on Domestic Streaming - it seems to contradict itself unless I'm misinterpreting it.

Domestic Streaming

From the 2024/25 season onward, this agreement makes more matches available to stream and will effectively replace the current Sky Sports EFL red button coverage and the EFL's domestic streaming option provided via iFollow and club streaming services. Domestic streaming audio services will remain alongside existing audio-visual arrangements for international audiences via iFollow and club streaming services.

It means you can't use iFollow for midweek games (domestically) which you currently can. But it will still exist abroad for people like you who 'live abroad'. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

'Each League weekend fixture round will see 10 live EFL fixtures shown. Five matches will be shown from the Sky Bet Championship '.

Presumably spread across Friday to Monday.
That's almost every other game, home and away being shown.
That's going to cause problems in attending away games without taking time off work, booking overnight stays, particularly if you are reliant on trains.
Home games massively disrupted also.
Not great for those attending.
How many is there now in the champo? 4 per weekend? Won't be that much of a difference to the champo will it? I don't see it effecting numbers attending.

I think it's better for the average champo fan (I expect to be shot down here mind), the average fan doesn't have a season ticket, and probably would want more choice than 3pm Saturday only. Saturday games are the main reason I don't have a season ticket as I can't go to most due to work or my own sport. This change probably won't make me get a season ticket until I've seen how it works mind, but I still manage to catch most on iFollow when working or at least catch a half.

I think this will be much better for the lower league clubs, in viewership and probably funding I expect, which is great. I've no idea how many lower league games are shown mind, as I don't have time to watch them.

Away fans are long down the pecking order of priorities as far as general fan viewership goes, despite those that travel being the most dedicated (and appreciated by most). Have to prioritise the masses, but away fans should be rewarded in other ways like cheaper (practically free) tickets etc, make sky and home fans cover their ticket costs etc.

They wouldn't have to move all the times/ games, if they got rid of the archaic rule that they can't legally show 3pm games to people in the UK though, that's the main reason why they switch the games, to avoid that blanket time ban.

I can see a day when they still have the 3pm TV ban on games, but there are no 3pm games, but every hour and day either side is littered with games. It's sad that it's going that way, but football has just not got with the times.

Most games should still be at 3pm, and every game should be televised by now, without having to take measures into your own hands to get it (which is easy, either paying the clubs via iFollow, or people using dodgy boxes which is impossible to stop).

If people want to go to the game, can afford to go to the game and can go to the game, they will, nothing has ever changed that way since I've been alive. It being on TV probably makes little difference. The cost is the biggest factor to most, but they've always had the chance to drop player wages, drop ticket prices and show all games on TV, but they don't do it so they can milk the fans dry (all fans, those going to the games or just watching).

Indeed, but no one will be wanting to play Monday & then again on the Wednesday.

Aren't all Tue/Wed matches already televised?
More Championship games going up against European cup games I'd think.. Sky don't have any coverage so that would be my guess..

They'll big it up as Europe's most competitive league pushing promotion to the 'best league in the world'

The positive is that fixtures will be fixed from announcement until January. So kick off times won't change. This will hopefully allow people more chance to plan ahead transport and accomodation for most of the season.
The negative is we will lose that 3pm regularity, home and away. I have mentioned this a couple of times to Boro. Everyone is going to have to make the most of pre planning but that lack of regularity could have a real adverse effect.
I think a lot of people in EFL football will be keeping their fingers crossed about these changes. But maybe they would not have had to do this if Premier League distributed more money down the football pyramid.
I notice the EFL do not seem to have announced the fixtures date yet.. Unless I am missing something. I have been asking the FSA if they have any info on this today.

Sounds crap to me.

Football is Saturday 3pm

Who the hell is watching Blackburn v Stoke next year when there is either some other football on or some paint drying on a wall next door

I did wonder about that as Sky is not available outside the UK as far as I'm aware, so they gain nothing by blocking people genuinely living abroad. The problem is all the 'fake foreigners' using a VPN which I'm sure they are aware of.
Yeah but don’t get all Brexity about fake foreigners mate.

Unnecessarily jumping to the wrong assumption there 'mate'. I was going to put a smiley after the term, but thought it wasn't needed.
