its another one of those repetitive boring threads that get started when we have a run of losses & draws - generally started by the same posters over and over again, that shows the entire globe that football fans have absolutely no clue about football, how it works or the costs involved.
they call for a fantasy land that does not exist.
last season the claim was that we should be aspiring to be Barnsley - i await to see who the football club it this time around that is being hailed as this year's model.
in the meantime, Steve Gibson will continue to pour a quarter of a million pounds every week of his own money into the club so that people like you can sit at home on a Sunday afternoon and talk absolute bollix - he isnt above criticism, but the criticism has to be valid, thought out and factual - not misguided opinions that you may or may not have overheard on the bus, at the bar or down the snooker club.
you think Steve Gibson has been a disaster since 2006 - go and add those £1/4 million a week up, and through the lockdowns - put in place your own finances, put a plan together and have a go - no one is stopping you, please do. and come 2038 season we can all see where you are and how your plan is coming on.
i think Steve Gibson has been a godsend and Middlesbrough Football Club is lucky/fortunate to have him at the helm of our football club - i look forward to you taking your seat in the chairman's chair.
Gibson is so far from a Godsend.
He makes the appointments and all key decisions that have led us into the debt position that makes us unsaleable.
My criticism is valid, thought out and factual.
Every year that passes it becomes more and more valid.
He has put £63m in by converting debt to equity. This happened 2012,2014, 2016.
His Group have internal loans of £120m - an inter group loan, not gifted.
He's been there 30 years, so he has put just over £2m per season in.
Randy Lerner at Aston Villa and Ellis Short at Sunderland both came unstuck, but Short cleared the debt before virtually giving Sunderland away. Lerner lost close to $400m on his activity at Villa.
Somebody would take MFC on, if Gibson cleared his debt and was prepared to step aside.
Gibson O'Neill is owed £120m by the club. IF he cleared that then he would have put £183m in across 30 years. This would be £6m per year and would be incredible. But he won't do that, not a chance.
That's absolutely fine, but let's stop bandying silly figures about.
£250k per week would be £13m per season, or £390m. Surely even you Johnny on your motorbike couldn't make that up?
