Simply obscene

True about the tax... 45% isn't it? I thought that was actually a valid argument when folk were saying they should donate to the NHS during covid.

They actually do and all year round.

Let's be honest if anyone is on 100-300k a week (or far less) you'd struggle to spend it. It almost has no 'value'. It just becomes numbers. Once you've bought a nice house / car etc then what's left?

I always think what it would be like winning the lottery. Clearly amazing but you could very easily go 'footballer' mode and buy 30k watches etc. If you knew you'd never runout (although footballers and lottery winners do)

Attacking footballers (normally young working class males) is classic distraction theory. These guys earn huge sums, true. However their careers are limited in time, and could be ended by injury or a loss of form at any point.

Constantly attacking them for what they earn and spend, but looking the other way whilst the likes of Amazon or hedge fund managers pull in, and in many cases, avoid tax on, far larger amounts than your average PL footballer is what "the establishment" want you to do.

Harry Maguire's trial has commenced today. The prosecution alleges, back at the police station, Harry Maguire said 'Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, please let us go'.

It sounds like something that nobody would ever say, I doubt it's true

All sounds a bit of a storm in a teacup - I guess we’ll never know who is telling the truth!

He and his like are the reason why clubs like the Boro are stuck with high earners and yet minimum wage staff are about to be made redundant.

It's not his fault he was offered such a lucrative contract which entitles him to spend thousands on bar bills:sleep::sleep:

You honestly think prem footballers pay a huge tax rate? They have an army of accountants making sure they pay minimal amounts and squirrel the rest away in tax havens.

Strange that ordinary working lads on here defend these overpaid, preening pop stars.

How would you possibly know that? You are guessing

It is of course up to him how he spends his cash, its a pity we don't value other jobs as highly as a premier league football, i think football should add a 1% "tax" on wages over say 60k a week with the money used to keep match day prices down and a more even spread of cash to clubs further down the line

Any proof of this please?

Why should they? They pay the highest tax bracket already.
