Silvera's miss

He’s young , He’s Quick , He’s got a good right foot . He’s got a good attitude. He’s decent with the ball at his feet .
Yes he’s raw and has made mistakes.
A loan away might be beneficial but I’m not writing him off
No way should anyone be writing him off, with the right coaching and experience (game time) you can see a completely different player develop…how many have Boro let go that are doing really well now?.

Give the lad time.

Comes down to a lack of concentration, plenty of players have been ‘suffering’ from this recently. I can’t remember a team that under or over hit so many passes, caught on their heels as a ball is played in front or behind them. Beyond frustrating to watch.

Next season is massive for a lot of the projects we signed this season. Silvera, Gilbert, Lath, Azaz, Engel, Bangura all have a lot to prove. Unfortunately, we’ve seen very little to suggest that any of the above are good enough for a team wanting promotion.

To get out of the Championship one of the prime elements you need is aggression . Sheffield Utd had more of that than skill last season. Ipswich ,Leeds and WBA have it this season. We dont really have much of it and are far too nice to play against. Players like Silvera add very little. Hes just far too lightweight and not very skillful and lacking an intelligent footballing brain. Ever since he backed out of a one on one with the Sheffield Wednesday Keeper, ive watched him more closely and just cannot see any redeeming qualities at all , him being "Young" or not.

We need some nastiness, niggle, more acts of the dark arts and more players willing to put their foot in. Other than from Ayling, Clarke, Howson and Hackney ( who on occasions reminds me of Mark Proctor ) these qualities are sorely lacking.

As well as Silvera, Barlaser and Azaz appear to be very lightweight and too nice and ive seen very little of them having much aggression. They are far too languid and laid back in style and approach . There have been some superb languid laid back midfield playmaker footballers over the years ala. Glenn Hoddle but he had vision, skill and a superb footbaling brain which compensated for any other failings.

We have got to stop buying lightweight footballers and need more athletisism and aggression. We need to have a bigger element of Bullying the opposition especially at the Riverside. I saw far too much backing off, backpeddling and ball watching yesterday, instead of sticking the foot in !

Don’t forget Luton, they played very little football, but had big tough physical fast players and they literally bullied their way out the league.
They were/are all built to withstand the physicality of the Championship.
Mentally tough and a togetherness and that’s why they have given themselves a chance of staying up.

You have to get the balance right between skill, experience and physicality.

Boro have far too many players who are similar.

I agree with all those names with the exception of Bangura. His name is constently cropping up on here as being not good enough. Thing is he's only played a handful of games and I cannot recall him doing anything that bad to be written off or overly judged so quickly? In fact I saw some promise from him and would say he has more going for him than Dijksteel. He is just as fast, doesnt look like Bambi on ice when running with the ball and he's much stronger and aggressive . So far ive not seen him wandering around getting caught in a bad positions and constantly losing concentration. He looks better than Engel in defensive areas and i'm sure he wouldnt have a lower pass completion than Engel whom I sometimes think forgets we are the team in Red !

Gilbert unfortunately is another lightweight to add with Silvera.

I thought Carrick made a poor choice taking our only CF off and replacing him with Silvera.
However it’s not an easy finish, that’s when you need a proper CF, he would instinctively volley it towards goal, between the 2 defenders on the line.
Latte lath has played more minutes than should after coming back from injury. I was saying he was gassed 10 mins before he came off.

With finch’s goals of late, I said we should put him on, high in confidence and a natural cf…but we went with Silvera

Latte lath has shown enough to have hope he will be a key player

Bangura has shown some good glimpses but he’s barely played through injury

Engel is hot and cold, cut out the colds and he’s a decent player at this level

Azaz is acclimatising still, needs to work on his physical condition over the summer

Silvera, has moments that are good then can’t trap a bag of cement. Needs the game time to step up

Gilbert, is the weakest of the players we’ve seen come in

I thought he must have been knackered, and probably the right decision as the last thing we need is for him to pull something.

To be fair to Gilbert although we've not seen him in training he's hardly had any opportunities
He looked quite deflated when he was told to sit down when warming up yesterday

I said the same about Latte Lath - was looking tired before he came off after a bright start
I seem to remember he was like that when he'd just joined us
I'd have put Finch on for him too - if Silvera was to come on I'd have played him out wide

Lath needs to pace himself better. He goes hell for leather for 60mins and some of his closing down was just pointless / headless chicken stuff.

I remember Tuncay doing similar. Some fans love it but it doesn’t do any good
