It's devastating watching the scenes unfold, the sheer terror of watching your country, your home being invaded by Russia. I personally don't think that Russia will just stop at Ukraine. We need to act IMO. FWIW I am a serving soldier and I would jump at the chance to go and help. I have been to the Ukraine twice to help train them and they are brilliant people. I vote yes.

It is horrendous what is going on but if you were sent to fight in Ukraine it could well mean the start of a new World War. That surely would be the war to end all wars. As in the war to end the planet.

It's a no from me. Any NATO intervention (which is what it would be) would be used as a propaganda tool by the Russians a justification of as them defending their own interests.

The moment one nato soldier officially enters this conflict is the moment that Russian tanks roll in to Tallinn Vilnius and Riga.

Article 5 wouldn’t matter if we were already in the fray.

I understand the WW3 argument but that isn't necessarily the case. I think it needs stopping before he wipes a country out and goes even further.

I don't think anyone here is pretending to be an expert in international war conflicts, and we are more used to discussing the offside rule.

The political and history of the the whole USSR fall is not something that I know much about - but I know enough to know that it is complicated. We would want to protect Ukraine, but does anyone genuinely think that by committing troops that bloodshed would actually be prevented, or actually would it more likely escalate the whole thing?

Do nothing and this could get so much worse. That's just my opinion.
You're right. I voted no but like others who did I'm hoping the psychopath Putin does not go any further than Ukraine. It could get worse. I just don't really see what could be worse than the potential WW3.

He can’t go further though and he knows it as then he will meet the full Might of nato head on inc the full us military.

It could. But intervening could make it worse too.

I know where you're coming from, to stand by and let Putin do this to a sovereign nation feels wrong. And probably is from a purely moral standpoint.

But if the west gets this wrong it could be catastrophic for everyone. There are, in the worst case scenario, potentially millions of lives at stake here.

The problem is doing nothing will make things a lot worse. Sanctions will bruise them but there needs to be more. Putin will think he can do what he likes and attempt to take somewhere else. IMO we are delaying the inevitable anyway.

No billions of lives.

It’s horrific but as I say putin seems to know his limits Ie nato

so blurring those lines would be incredibly dangerous.
