Shots on target against

We're not conceding many "average" chances I would say, so the only chances the oppo get are crap ones which don't hit the target or good ones which are way harder to save. I don't recall any howlers?

We don't seem to give away many of the "easy save" chances so to speak.

I don't think Dieng is to blame, more than we could expect from a good keeper, so I've no concerns there.....

Sunderland - no chance, was wrong footed by defender which left an open goal
Preston - no chance with that volley
Portsmouth 2 - might have done better with first, but shot was only 7 yards out, clash with Clarke for second so ended in an open goal, he had no reason to be out there mind
Derby - 1 v 1 where striker had tons of time, can't be expected to save those

Sunderland and WBA have only conceded one more than us, from over twice as many shots on target, they will struggle to keep that up.

Meslier and Trafford for Leeds and Burnley look to be in a good position.

Sheff Utd seem alright too but they aint creating enough the other end.

If we average conceding only 1.5 shots on target per game (hard to do that mind) then we will probably struggle to not win the league I imagine, if we start putting some away ourselves, and we're creating more than enough, and should continue to do so.

It's not like we're playing defensive either, we're doing the opposite of that basically, good signs I think, especially if we can maintain it through this next set of games which don't look too easy.

1 SOT away at West Brom is great mind, they will be as good as just about anyone I think.

One thing nobody considers is .. we are getting our blocks in. Blocked shots is a good stat to be high in as it shows , in Maddo's terms, we are not allowing the oppo to get his shot off. The blocked shot , no one knows was it off or was it on as it doesn't get to that point. It doesn't get recorded other than as as a blocked. Let's keep on with this level of blocking.

If we can create a few more easier chances, then we will really start to roll. Just need it to start clicking for Lathe Lath and Azaz, then we should be a force to be reckoned with.

I know its all down to percentages but Dieng and Meslier have the same difference between shots on target and saves (5) but Meslier's save % is considerably higher
Dieng hasn't had much chance with what they've scored though, anything else he's saved or it's not gone in. No other keeper would have likely saved more.

It's possible to save the first Portsmouth one but he was a bit wrong footed, maybe his positioning could have been less to the near post, which might have given him a better chance at not needing to move over as much and getting wrong footed, but I think it would be a bit harsh saying that.

He was possibly at fault or partially at fault for the second goal v Portsmouth, but not at the point the shot was taken, it was before that rushing out. No keeper was saving that when the shot was taken. Maybe he gave a call though and defender didn't hear it or there was a misunderstanding, but these things happen. I just think with that one he could have read it better and not rushed out, but it's the only thing I can half fault him for at the minute. No concerns from me, he's saved more than I expect him to, from the chances the oppo have had, and is good with his feet which really helps us.

When they were talking about this, I wondered if Pompey's 2nd counted as a shot against Dieng?

I suspect it does count, but did he really face the shot given he was lying on the ground behind the play?

I guess the word "faced" is confusing: there have been 13 shots against us that were on target that weren't blocked?
