Sheff Wed - Chansiri

Not a happy chap. Could imagine SG thinking along the same lines to be fair.

Statement

He has a point regarding crossing the line on insults to family and damage to property etc.

Also the tennis ball protest was ridiculous. Their team was playing well, had a high level of pressure on our back line, and that all stopped for 5 minutes due to clearing the balls off the pitch. Silly.

Wow, he’s gone for it there, and I don’t blame him, especially regarding his family being targeted.
I know a few Wednesday fans, and they’re fed up with the football on offer, but I don’t think they would go to those vitriolic lengths.
As said above, withdrawing his dosh will change a few points of view. £2m a month, that’s some input, I can’t see there being a big queue of potential buyers, especially with the upkeep of an aging stadium on top of the day to day running of the club.
As is often said on this forum, be careful what you wish for!

They were protesting the ownership, not the team, weren't they?

It would be a pretty hollow protest if they decided against doing it because they were briefly playing well.

He's building his own problems with repeated petty public statements.

They're playing tonight, and the first thing in the fans mind is going to be their owner threatening them.

Aye, its the same old chestnut. Some fans of clubs think theyre being held back by the current owner who should just sell to the first Chinese billionaire who is looking to buy.
Some fans have this idea that the are queues around the block of billionaires who are fighting each other to buy out clubs with a track record of losing money, year upon year.
The big problem we are seeing now is that clubs are being used as play things. The are being bought by states that are putting billions into clubs with absolutely no prospect of a profit or sensible returns. These clubs are just toys like sports cars. The only way to compete is to have the same type of owner.
If you have an owner who has to balance the books then the ripple down effect of sky high wages form the premier then the prospects are not good.

Lets face it - Man Utd cant spend the money to compete at the top any longer . MAN UNITED FFS! Liverpool cannot compete with the spending.
They are doing it with boxing too. Money is ruining sport.

Steve Gibson is not a fan of Chansiri - putting it lightly.
The Sheff Wed owner has a certain regard from himself, his name is emblazoned across the seats of the stand opposite the directors box as well as sponsor boards all round so that the cameras and fans can pick out the name when and if those seats are filled.
But remember Steve Gibson complained about not just Derby County but Chansiri playing fast and loose with FFP a couple of seasons ago and the EFL league agreed with him finding that they had deliberately broken the rules, even falsely filing accounts in the wrong year. One of the methods used was for him to sponsor the shirts directly. He massively overvalued that deal to show up as a major positive for FFP in the accounts. I was told the value by someone from another short sponsor and it was something like 10x the real value.
Anyway, the club paid the price, were docked points and were relegated. His fault.
Then at the end of last season the club won through in the play offs, an almighty scramble getting a winner right at the end of the final. But escaping from the deadly clutches of the third level. The reward for manager Darren Moore was the sack.
I do not agree with any personal attacks at all but what are the motives of Chansiri? - he clearly wants his name written large. Does he have some big need to have a positive reputation in the world of football and away from the Far East? He has taken a wrecking ball to Sheff Wed.

Owners causing debts to their club and then pulling the funding when people call them out for it. The fact that can happen in our game is dire. We need a proper regulator and we need the single ownership model abolishing.

I think he genuinely loves himself and believes he deserves to have his name in lights. Rich men with tiny dicks, they used to drive big cars now they buy football clubs or become presidents.
Didn't that Forest owner do the same? Moshiri was it?

It's funny that he says that he'd have lower ticket prices if more people bought tickets, their season tickets are one of the few in the Championship that make ours look reasonable

You can guarantee that if more people bought the tickets, he'd just say that clearly the prices are justified as people are paying it.

In terms of matchday pricing, £45 for a student is ludicrous.

He called himself a 'fan' but it's a vanity project simple as that and a huge gamble for these owners. He will be looking for the exit door now for sure but as he says there's no queue of potential buyers with money to burn. The Makums will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of tonights game.

Sheff Wed owe Chansiri just over £60m, mostly due beyond 1 year.
The Club only lease their stadium, which is a relic. They have a £65m long term lease commitment on Hillsborough, but beyond 5 years.
The Club had £66m nett negative shareholder value in June 22, so only half of our negative value.

He definitely hasn't put £2m per month in to the club, but now they are Championship, he may be projecting a loss of £24m this season in the Championship.
They would be FFP casualties if they do lose that.
I think he is just acting now to get out without building quite the horrendous debt to self and net negative value that Gibson has at Boro.

As regards Chansiri's promotion relief, FFP escape and subsequent sacking of Moore.
Do you not remember the look on Gibson's face after Brighton?
Our Loss before Tax (starting point for FFP before allowances saw we lost £20m in year to 2014, £9m to 2015 and £32m in that promotion season.
Gibson sacked Karanka too.

I mean atleast he makes statements to the fans Gibson hasn't for years. But he does have a fair point he is investing 2 million a month trying to do his best and it's just constant pain. He's thinking what is the point in fighting on

Well it’s an Odd thing for a boro fan to say.
I'm very muchly in favour of 50+1 in terms of fans having the largest majority. So it's not odd. Gibbo could die tomorrow (God forbid) and then we could be in a similar position.
A single owner model allows this type of thing to happen, with an owner building big debts and then pulling funding, it's the fans left to pick up the pieces, fans should have the biggest say on what goes on with their clubs.

:D at least he makes statements to fans! If someone strides up to your face and calls you a **** do you think, ah well at least he's not ignoring me.

the issue is quite straightforward for me - Chansiri isnt a sheff wed fan.

there is no heart or soul in it - its all 100% ego.

Middlesbrough fc is owned and controlled, financed and has governance from a Life-long Middlesbrough Football Club supporter and Fan. - 40% heart 40% soul & 10% ego - theres posters on here who dont come anywhere near that.

I'm certainly not bigging up Chansiri.

However, perhaps unsurprisingly Johnny your thoughts don't even add up. What is the missing 10%?

I'd be happier to see Capability, Resources, Ethics and Commitment making up my 100%.
I would expect someone with huge capability, resources, ethics and commitment perhaps to have an ego.
I'm certain Steve has the ego part.
