Can't remember which thread it was where I said it, so I'll just post here.
More proof that the "typical Boro" thing is just a stock phrase that fans of every Championship will use about their own clubs.
More proof? Correct me if I am wrong this is the only example of another club using typical. As for every Championship using such phraseology there is no proof to back this up. Still if it helps trying to make a point…..

There's a few more for you, and those were just a few clubs off the top of my head to prove the point.
Plenty of proof.

It's just a generic phrase that every football fan uses and thinks is unique to their own club.
It has no genuine meaning, we're no more prone to daft results than other clubs.

Fair enough. Ample proof to back up your claim there, fella

Yep. My best mate who is a Burnley fan has a stock phrase “Typical Burnley”. All fans have a morbid trepidation of being let down And remember the times when they were.

I bet even wizened old Bolton fans still bemoan Stan Matthews dancing down that wing at Wembley in 1953 and crossing to Perry to score the winner with the last kick despite Bolton being 3 -1 up in the game and still leading 3-2 going into the last minute.

A lot of these clubs use this phrase but none are like us

as we do this on a constant basis we really can beat the best and then lose to the worst time and time again and we have done over and over again regardless of division.

no other club does that.

Take this season drew at home with Fulham beat forest and Bournemouth then lost to Barnsley

Beat spurs and Man U at old Trafford then lose to hull.

So clubs say this but they don’t back it up like us on a constant basis.

That’s typical boro it’s about not oh we won one this you watch we’ll lose the next

no it’s far deeper that we can beat the BEST then lose to the worst.

That’s typical boro and no other side come close.

It's EVERY football fan's mentality, it's the only way to survive supporting a team long term. I'd give the breezy optimists and #believers about 5 years tops before they are totally broken.
'Spursy' is another example just an abbreviation for 'typical' Spurs.

"Typical bloody Bolton. And in 2004 when we played 12 men in Cardiff." I can hear them now.

Every club will be like this.
But they are not though

as When did Luton last win at old Trafford ??

As we can pull off the most insane victories even at the away grounds.

Look at karanka side at the Etihad.

But then we will lose to the worst.

This is not some one off the most clubs do once in a blue moon

no as We do it every year

Beat the best then lose to the worst that is typical boro.

Remember when we beat man at old Trafford in the prem their first home defeat in months then we play an Everton side that hadn’t won at home all year and lost 5-0.

That’s typical boro.

Not true we are the worst. For example I cant recall us ever losing to a non league side in the FA Cup. There are many clubs who have though. There are many clubs who haven't played in Europe or who haven't won a major trophy or haven't been to an FA Cup Final.

The saying "Typical Boro" vanished in a puff of smoke at 5pm on 29th February 2004.

That’s true

But we do remain one of the least predictable teams in the league as we can beat anyone then lose to anyone form seems to be irrelevant to us at times.

05/06 prem season sums it up

The year Sunderland went down on 15 pts the lowest in prem history three of those points came from beat us.

The same season we beat The top side Chelsea 3-0

Chelsea only lost 5 times that season

Beat the best lose to the worst it’s what we do.
