I don't think that is too bad to say the high attendance and the rivalry amongst the two groups of fans. I am shocked at the ages of a couple of them and the addresses of others.

Evening Gazette:

Seven football fans have been arrested following Middlesbrough's clash with Sunderland on Monday night.

A teenage boy from Billingham was among seven fans detained in and around the Riverside Stadium where the game was held. It comes after Cleveland Police issued a warning to fans that they would not tolerate anyone who caused disorder. In a new update on Tuesday, the force confirmed they arrested seven people.

Only one of the suspects detained is from Teesside. Officers arrested the following:

  • A 17-year-old boy from Billingham was arrested on suspicion of public order. He has since been charged with causing another harassment, alarm or distress and been released on bail conditions including not to attend regulated football match in UK.
  • A 26-year-old man from Sunderland was arrested on suspicion of causing another harassment, alarm or distress. He has been summoned to appear at court.
  • A 20-year-old man from Seaham was arrested on suspicion of common assault and drunk and disorderly and has been released on conditional bail.
  • Ryan Hearne, aged 32, of Fleckney Aveue in Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of going onto the pitch and has since been charged.
  • A 64-year-old man from Sunderland was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and has been released on conditional bail.
  • Will Robertson, aged 20, of Larkfield Crescent in Houghton-Le-Spring was arrested on suspicion of throwing missiles and has since been charged.
  • Kyne Stanforth, aged 33, of Spring Street in Immingham was arrested on suspicion of throwing missiles and has since been charged.

I had a look at the names earlier on Teesside Live , I thought they could be all be Mackems, so I picked one non North East address and name and googled it, looking at the info it wasn't their 1st Rodeo. Makes me wonder about the Bilingham lad what did he do so different to be given stricter bail conditions , he's only 17.

Stoke on Trent?

Immingham ?

eh?

Both shitholes. Mind you, probably nicer places to live than Sunderland.

Edit: just been on google maps. Look like decent neighbourhoods to me

These games are generally too well policed these days for there to be much trouble. I think there were more coppers than Mackems in the police escort before the game.

Thought there might have been trouble after the game but looked like a lot of Mackem's stayed celebrating inside the stadium for a while after full-time. Didn't seem to be many Boro fans who could be bothered waiting around for them coming out.

There was some aggravation in the NW corner, when Sunderland fans sitting among Boro fans celebrated their goal.
We booked hospitality tickets and I was really disappointed.
Paper cups for my coffee the money we paid I expected a proper cup, chew in the concourse and stands, really bad language (boro fans I have to say) my 8yr old grandson was scared, but always a positive the padded seats were nice.
