Seeing Celebrities in the flesh

Now it’s moved on to footballers, I have 2 stories there…

First was Gary Pally threatening to fill me in outside the mall because I told my sisters friend who he was necking, that he had a girl friend… then told him Mogga was better…

Second was the Lennie Lawrence promo team, again in the Mall and I got John Hendrie to kiss my cousin who was in there underaged (legal for the kids though 😂) wilko refused as he had to bend down too far…

Bobby Kerr and Mick Docherty.
Both had pubs that I used to deliver to in Hartlepool and Darlington respectively. Used to offer us a beer after the delivery and we'd chat about football and I'd listen to their stories. Both real gents with some great memories. Bobby regaling me with the story of his one and only Scotland appearance... against Boro in Willie's testimonial, and Mick talking about his dad's exploits and escapades.

Pete Doherty - Nice guy but he's very softly spoken. We had a brief chat but I could barely hear what he was saying. He's not as tall as I was expecting as well. I'd say I'm 5"11 and he only seemed to have about 2 inches on me.

Got a photo taken with Gazza and Vinnie Jones at an event. Gazza looked a few inches shorter than me but Vinnie towered over me. I'd say he's a solid 6"2 at least.

Came across Eric Hall having breakfast in Pellicis Cafe in Bethnal Green. My Dad said to him "I remember you'd always smoke a massive cigar", to which he replied "still do". We were down to watch Boro play Charlton and when we'd told him we'd come down to watch Boro he asked whether we were playing Spurs. He'd been a football agent but clearly can't have had much of an interest in football if he'd thought Boro were in the Premier League at the time.

Daniel Craig in front of me at the queue for the cash machine in Helmsley. Looks like..... Daniel Craig. Couldn't see Rachel Weiss anywhere - gutted.
I was once trapped in a lift with Rachel Weiss at Covent Garden. It wasn't for long and we didn't need to be rescued, but my word, what an attractive lady.

I hate it. It’s almost a phobia. I’m either rude or ignorant, which is so unlike me.
From Emlyn Hughes to Suzi Mitzi... even big Jack
I may need counseling

I've met a few, thanks to my sister who worked for both BBC and ITV over the years. I remember weeing next to Barry Humphries as Les P in the bogs at the Tube. We had a nice chat.

Not the most famous, but one of my favourite nights, was spending an evening chatting with Robson Green. I didn't really know who he was at the time, but he was just such a lovely fella.
A weird one was speaking to 50's star Charlton Heston on the phone. Oh and giving John Malkovich a light at San Fran airport

And I kissed Claire Grogan in Bridlington :)

One of the regulars at my local use to work at Hugo Boss in London so has met loads of famous people. She reckons the worst to deal with was Jay Kay from Jamiroquai. Most were pretty decent and normal apparently.

In the 90's she helped fit the Man United players suits for an FA Cup Final. Roy Keane made her turn around while he was in his underwear!

Was working in Germany in a town called Recklinghausen and i got in a lift in my hotel and saw a fat stubby bloke who looked familiar

It was the Actor John Malkovic, turns out he was doing theatre there, had a brief conversation, got a ticket and he signed it and i went to see it

It was called the critic

Janet Street Porter at a village fete in the dales. She is louder and bigger mouthed in real life.
Alan Armstrong the actor at kings Cross back in the 80's
Jim Platt, his wife was in maternity ward with my then wife. Our eldest children share same birthday. He looked massive. Hair was blacker than black, or seemed to my starstruck eyes.
