What do you actually think about him as a manager?

We’re always being told what the media portrays - long ball, dull, unadventurous etc.
But do we actually think that, as fans?

For me he’s a pragmatist. I recon he leans into the perception he’s been boxed into now, but there’s a lot more to him.

I think slowly it’s become clear how good he is at what he does and that being a top level manager is far from easy.

Still find myself underwhelmed. Sometimes we like a bit of something else, no? Zhuzh it up a bit. Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Perhaps it’s the Jose style drama, the Pep genius or Klopp charisma that becomes so entertaining.. and Sean is just, well, himself.

Or it could be the gravelly voice …

To be honest no one knows not even himself I’d suspect as he’s never been tested outside his Burnley bubble. Burnley fans didn’t help as they were more than happy to scrape by so their owners were just going through the motions with him tagging along.

Until now as Everton aren’t Burnley.

So I guess we’ll see.

Saw an interview with him on Ben Foster's podcast and he came across like David Brent. I get the impression he's a Wilder type attitude over ability manager but playing a formation/style that is more reliable.

He doesn't strike me as the sort of manager that will change much and I can't imagine it's a case of him being capable of managing at the very top level but will never be given a chance. He probably has already reached his ceiling.

Awful football, annoying personality.

I'd be willing to concede that the football might be pragmatism, but the personality is just him.

We had Pulis claiming that the reputation around his football was down to pragmatism and that he'd like to try to play attacking football, and plenty of posters on here still hate him, so that makes me think that it's not so easy to change from what you're used to.

I see where you’re coming from, I’d have to agree that he’s still finding it out because to some extent we all are. Everton will be an interesting reveal of what else he is capable of as I also think it’s a different type of job entirely. But 9 years at Burnley achieving what he did isn’t an accident surely? I feel he probably deserves a bit more respect. We just don’t tend to value simplicity and doing the basics well, generally.

I watched both he’s done on the Fozcast. Definitely see the comparison to Wilder! He does admit to being arrogant to be fair. Must take some ego to be in the premier league managers job.
I’m the kind who would hate being famous I think 🤔

I guess it all depends on if it brings results at the end of the day!

Some one made a good point on talk sport last week he’s basically Sam allardyce and Everton fans hated his pragmatic style so will dyche be the same.

Plus how can he handle egos esp the likes of Pickford DCL etc as will they respect him.

I recon he’s nout like Allerdyce personally speaking. TalkSport caller famously on the money? 😂
I think handing egos is probably what he excels at.
Can see Everton being fine! Let’s see what happens but a great start

Never liked him since that Chesterfield game in 1997.

25 years on and I still bear a grudge.
I thought it was Dyche that beared the grudge, he openly hates us doesn't he?

I think he's a complete tool to be honest. He also seems to have some strange sense of humour, akin to someone with a few loose screws that could make them very dangerous.

I would not put it past him that he signed Ben Gibson just to try and ruin him .

Can’t disagree with any of that.

Eminently dislikeable bloke.

He meant the football style as they turned in allardyce for his pragmatic style in the end.

Could history repeat itself esp with new stadium.

From ancelloti to dyche bit of a difference.
