Score yourself - how big a Boro fan would you say are you?

Taking into account many variables including many I cannot think of, (please add to) such as how long you have supported Boro? If you do or did attend matches at home or home and away or mainly follow on TV or the radio?

How far do you travel to watch Boro? Any major events you have sacrificed to watch a match?

Where you there during the really dark days in the 80's (not many did), did you donate to keep the club afloat?

Do you wear club colours when you go the match?

Have you watched Boro live at AP and the Riverside? Did you see Boro lift their first major cup and play in Europe? Do you collect Boro merchandise and memrobillia? Have you encouraged others to support Boro?

This is not meant to be a competition, it is self defined against your perception of other supporters you know or have an impression of, there is no right or wrong.

So on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the lowest (not much at all) to 10 being absolutely fanatic, what would you score yourself?

I score myself a 4.

7 or 8 I’ve been to all the big games I was there in the dark days ( but not at Victoria Park) and I’ve only ever followed this club from the age of 6.

Gold st holder and always go to the early rounds of the cup.
I used to go regularly to away games but not so much now.

Probably a 6....Been going since '87. I don't collect Boro gear and only wear the shirt for matches. I missed a lot of the glory years games as I was working away, never miss a home game and only occasionally go to away games these days!

Probably a 5 haven’t been to a match in a while, always check in on the scores during matches, but living away from Boro for the last 13 years has made it more difficult.

Nice question. I tried to answer it by thinking about what would I do if I was still living in the uk. I think if I lived close to the area I would be a season ticket holder but I wouldn't necessarily go to every Game.
If I was still down in London I would probably make it to a few games a year.
Where you are at whatever stage of your life has an impact as well I think for example when I was in my twenties and in London coming up to the boro was great now I'm a little older with kids it would be less appealing.IThat said I try to watch every game and I got to a few home and away games in Europe before I moved over here.
i would say a 5. Average, could do better. Buffalo Boro has all the gear but could do better

I have had an ST/SC since 1973/74. I used to go to most away games I could since I began work, but since relegation in 2009, I have only averaged about 7 away games a year. I have been to every cup final, including the Anglo Scottish Cup and ZDS. I definitely eat, sleep an fart Boro. My weekends (and by default, my family and friends weekends) are not necessarily as pleasant as they could be if we lose. I am a grumpy miserable curmudgeon after a defeat, but after a win, I am ‘tigger like’.

There are supporters who have a better record than me, especially since 2009 away from home, but they are not ‘bigger’ or ‘better’ supporters than I, nor am I a bigger or better supporter than those who have had the privilege to see the Boro live a little bit less than I. We are all Boro fans and we are a gang of equals that support the team as best we can in the midst of what life throws our way. We are all 10’s in our own personal way (I am sure that is what Nobby really meant to say by his scoring)

Only following your local team and not having a second team like Liverpool or united must given you a 10/10 😎👍
Paying to attend and buying strips is debatable, having to shout about how ‘passionate’ you are about football can get a bit pathetic .
football is more than just football when it’s your local team

Being going 42 years.
Was at Cardiff and Eindhoven.
Was at Hartlepool 86 Saturday teatime and Tuesday night (those that went to both will know).
Got the odd ancient programme but wouldn’t be seen dead in colours and any middle aged man that does needs to think about life.

Cardiff 94 fa cup reply 1st game 10 year old
Derby 97 fa cup q/f 1st away
Went to every game at AP from cardiff.
lots early days at riverside less over years due to cost.
Was at wembley 97 both games and 98. 2004 at cardiff
Elland road and old trafford/hillsborough in 97 too.
Used to listen to every game on radio no mattwe what. I still try but have a little girl now so other things take over

Me an a group of lads do a 300 mile round trip door to door for home games. Ive missed some myself through work, but probably go to as many away.
Its the craic and the banter - the rituals and the getting up at 7.15 on a Satda - the discussion on the way up and an impromptu conference on the game and a look at the team sheet.
I loved the Holgate and playing in winter under the floodlights.
Its part of whats made me and shaped my outlook on life and the enjoyment of temporal magic moments - especially following the Boro.
I wouldnt want it to be any different.
